This is a mainline American Airlines role, within Regional Planning and Strategy organization. This team has the unique opportunity to work with multiple groups (both internally and externally) while making decisions that directly improve performance for over half of American Airline’s daily departures. The position will be active in examining all aspects of the regional business, including project work covering a wide variety of strategic, financial, and operational analyses.

What you'll do

  • Analyze and negotiate regional carrier capacity purchase agreements

  • Evaluate structure of existing contracts for opportunities to enhance operational performance or reduce expenses

  • Act as the point of contact externally, and source of truth internally, for crew capability and aircraft availability from CPA carriers

  • Develop plans for operational and/or product improvements across the portfolio by working with external regional carriers and internal groups like Network Planning, Fleet Planning, Legal, Finance, Marketing & Customer Experience

  • Evaluate new and/or replacement initiatives to optimize American Airline’s regional portfolio

  • Become a regional industry expert to understand contractual and operational best practices

  • Work with the Financial Planning team to help facilitate acquisition and approval of necessary capital

  • Develop competitive industry studies and key performance indicator (KPI) metrics

  • On an ad hoc basis provide analytical support to the regional operations-focused teams

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • At least 3+ years of commercial or operational experience: Preferably groups like Network Planning, Financial Planning, Revenue Management, Fleet, Planning, etc.

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Aviation, Finance or equivalent experience

  • MBA would be beneficial

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Advanced experience with Excel modeling and PowerPoint presentation development required

  • Possess sound strategic business analysis acumen with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to a changing environment

  • A passion for making things better and an action-oriented disposition
