Robert Half Staff Accountant in Dallas, Texas

Description Robert Half has a career-building opportunity for a Staff Accountant with experience and skill to join a renowned Commodities House company on a permanent basis. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting throughout the monthly close. Lend your skills towards developing and implementing accounting policies. Also, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This role is very integrated as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This Dallas, Texas area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.

Responsibilities

  • Partake in various department-wide initiatives

  • Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease

  • Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting

  • Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable

  • Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

  • Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries

  • In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

  • Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation Requirements - Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Detailed and have the ability work independently

  • General familiarity with Internal Control

  • Account reconciliation experience highly desired

  • Foundational knowledge in journal entries

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel

  • Proven knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Strong familiarity with general ledger

  • Prepare Financial Reports experience

  • Practical knowledge of internal control review

  • Well-founded grasp of Internal Control

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Knowledgeable of ERP systems

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
