ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the accounting close and reporting activities of the Americas Region which includes coordinating with accounting and business finance teams throughout the region.

Maintains, communicates and monitors a calendar of key accounting and reporting deadlines and deliverables for the region.

Works with the controllers of each business line to ensure the timely closing of the regional legal entity ledgers and their submission to the global consolidations tool.

Establishes regional meetings and other touchpoints to plan for approaching deadlines and address specific issues or exceptions timely.

Monitors and enhances monthly close process, including analysis of current regional close activities and opportunities for improvement; participates in the implementation of operating procedures to improve efficiency.

Monitors and supports the timely completeness of account reconciliations for the region.

Conducts training seminars pertaining to quality balance sheet account reconciliations.

Acts as primary/secondary contact with the organization’s internal and external auditors on regional accounting matters.

Designs and performs research and data analytics relating to financial statement & reconciliation quality, completeness and accuracy.

Interprets current accounting guidance and policies; coordinates with the technical accounting and policy teams to ensure the appropriate regional implementation of applicable policies and procedures.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university in Accounting. Requires a minimum of seven years related experience to include at least three years in a lead or supervisory capacity. Public accounting experience with a Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

MAcc or MBA (graduate degree) and/or CPA license preferred, but not required (depending on experience).

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous information to the Americas region accounting leadership, fellow team members, and stakeholders across the organization. Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and prepare clear, concise financial reports. Must have ability to convey complex financial issues to nonfinancial stakeholders.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Broad, in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards (FASB), theories, & practices. Demonstrated experience & knowledge of financial issues & economic impact beyond technical knowledge. Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to analyze the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports. Advanced understanding of accounting and bookkeeping concepts. Develops and administers accounting practices to ensure optimum client satisfaction while guaranteeing CBRE financial interests are protected.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex financial information and transactions and accounting principles. Ability to independently research complex accounting transactions/issues. Ability to problem-solve, both independently and working as a team. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Solid understanding of and experience in application of GAAP and the close process in a large organization with a matrix type structure.

Broad experience with an ERP such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, Hyperion, etc. Knowledge of real estate service industry and terminology is helpful.

External and internal audit/SOX compliance.

Self-motivated, strong work ethic and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a project type role where work flows must be managed, projects prioritized and time management is followed.

Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including the ability to research and simplify complex situations.

Strong computer skills, including specific knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

Ability to interface with all levels of the organization to collect information and drive resolution.

Must be detail-oriented, have a proactive approach and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Must be able to effectively manage and prioritize critical deadlines.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
