Job Title: EIP and Intervention Teacher (Reading, Math, and Writing)

Department: Scholar Support

Reports to: Assistant Principal of Scholar Support

Position Overview:

The EIP and Intervention Teacher is a crucial member of the Academic Support team, responsible for implementing Response-to-intervention (RTI) strategies in reading, math, and writing for 2nd to 4th-grade students. This role involves providing targeted small-group instruction, developing intervention plans, and collaborating with teachers to support scholars in their academic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. RTI Implementation:
  • Implement the Response to Intervention (RTI) framework to identify and support students with academic needs.

  • Collaborate with the RTI team to assess, monitor, and adjust interventions based on student progress.

  1. Reading/Math Intervention (Small Group):
  • Provide small group instruction in reading and math to scholars identified for additional support.

  • Teach 3-4 small groups of reading rotation in collaboration with homeroom teachers. .

  • Differentiate instruction based on individual learning needs to address skill gaps and enhance student achievement.

  1. Humanities Writing Block Support (Small Group), as needed:
  • Facilitate small group sessions to support scholars in developing writing skills within the humanities curriculum.

  • Collaborate with humanities teachers to align writing interventions with classroom instruction.

  1. Support Scholars and Teachers:
  • Collaborate with grade-level teachers to identify students requiring intervention support.

  • Attend team meetings and collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with the curriculum.

  1. Progress Monitoring and Data Analysis:
  • Regularly assess student progress through formative assessments and data analysis.

  • Utilize assessment data to adjust and modify intervention plans to meet the evolving needs of students.

  1. Parent and Teacher Communication:
  • Maintain open communication with parents, sharing information on student progress and strategies for support.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning.

  1. Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal.

  • Contribute to the overall positive school culture and participate in school-wide events and activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • State teaching certification.

  • Specialization or additional certification in reading and math interventions is an asset.

  • Experience in providing small group instruction and implementing RTI strategies.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.

Work Environment:

The EIP and Intervention Teacher will work within the school environment, conducting small group sessions and collaborating with teachers. Some flexibility may be required based on the school's schedule and needs.

Compensation:

Higher salaries are awarded to those with Masters degrees or specializations (SPED, ESOL, Gifted, Reading Specialist).
