Job Title: Medication Dispensing Nurse - LPN - Mobile Medication Unit

Position #00679151 - Requisition #32779

This position may be eligible for a one-time recruitment incentive up to $2,500. Details of this one-time recruitment incentive program will be provided during the interview process.

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medication such as: Methadone, Suboxone, Naltrexone, Antabuse, and extended-release injectable naltrexone to patients.

  • Transport narcotic medication in a manner consistent with DEA, State, and Federal, rules and regulations, while abiding by ARTS policies and procedures to include but not limited to using a lock box. Delivery locations will include correctional facilities, rehabilitation centers, inpatient treatment facilities, or any location deemed appropriate by ARTS.

  • Assess patients' needs for physical exams, and report observations to physicians and/or counselors.

  • Monitor each patient's vital signs and health condition.

  • Blood Drawing for labs and/or obtaining test results.

  • Administer TB tests.

  • Assess adverse reaction to medications, and issues relating to drug overdose, HIV, and/or HCV.

  • Handle infectious materials, human blood, or other body fluids according to applicable policy and procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Two (2) years of nursing, nursing assistance, dispensing medication, and/or experience related to position.

  • Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience with medication assisted treatment.

  • Prior work experience with patients in substance use disorder treatment.

  • Possess and maintain a valid IV certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written communication skills, which includes the ability to check for typographical, grammatical, and spelling errors.

  • Ability to effectively manage difficult behaviors.

  • Ability to engage patients in treatment for substance use disorder treatment.

  • Ability to comply with established rules, policies and procedures and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to be open-minded and nonjudgmental.

  • Ability to develop healthy relationships with clients.

  • Ability to establish boundaries with clients.

  • Ability to exercise discretion (e.g. patient confidentiality).

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

  • Must agree to, and successfully pass, a fingerprint and criminal background check. (Note: Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the Central Registry of Child Protection - Trails).

Medication Dispensing Nurse - LPN - Mobile Medication Unit - 32779 University Staff

The Medication Dispensing Nurse will be assigned to the Medication Mobile Unit (MMU) which will operate and provide substance use disorder services in the greater Metro Denver area. This position may also assist from time to time in dispensing activities among three ARTS Opioid Treatment Programs, currently located in Aurora, Arvada, and Denver. They will report to the Manager of Nursing Operations and will be co-supervised by the Clinic Manager.The Medication Dispensing Nurse is responsible for performing work related to dispensing medications, drawing blood from patients, keeping clear records, storing controlled substances and other duties as assigned. This position will require you to work 40 hours per week as follows: 5:00am - 1:30pm Monday through Friday, and 5:00am to 10:00am on Saturday for dispensing activities. This position may be required to deliver medication to off-site locations in the greater Metro Denver area.This is a full-time, grant-funded, University Staff (non-classified) position that provides activities to engage, educate, and offer support to adults with SUD, their family members, and caregivers to connect patients to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up sessions. This position is also responsible for conducting outreach activities with patients, staff, community partners, subcontracted agencies, and/or other entities as appropriate, travel to various sites, and perform other duties as assigned or required. This position is supported by grant funds, whose funding will be reviewed on a periodic basis. Accordingly, the position's status may be affected over time by any applicable variations in the grant and/or funding amounts. Therefore, this position is contingent on grant funding and is time limited.

  • The position will be assigned to a home clinic and will need to, from time to time, assist in dispensing activities among three ARTS Opioid Treatment Programs, currently located in Aurora, Arvada, and Denver.
