SCL Health Outpatient Pharmacy Technician in Denver, Colorado
Job Description:This incumbent demonstrates consistent application of knowledge and skills in assisting the pharmacist in the execution of appropriate, safe, efficacious, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care. The incumbent participates in many procedural aspects of pharmacy practice under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or technician supervisor and is an integral part of the pharmacy team.
Scope
-Assists Pharmacist by gathering clinical information on patients- Accurately fills and maintains medication supplies in the automatic dispensing system including verifying and monitoring controlled substance inventories as required- Packages and labels medications accurately and appropriately to minimize waste - Verifies and monitors controlled substance inventories as required by daily shift assignments. - Completes documentation according to departmental standards- Maintains cleanliness of all pharmacy working areas, including hazardous waste removal as necessary
- Participates in problem solving to address issues relating to patient safety, care and service- Supports and promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team and interdepartmentally to facilitate the departments ability to meet it's goals and objectives- Collaborates with department leadership team to coordinate care with other departments and promote the highest level of patient care and satisfaction- Participates in leading quality and performance improvement initiatives- Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety environmental and infection control standards- Assists with all phases of pharmacy services- Works with patients, providers and insurance companies. Answers phones and notes from physicians in a timely manner.
Accurately reads interprets and enters prescriptions in a timely manner- Routes questionable prescriptions to the pharmacist for completion Makes outbound calls / faxing physicians for prescription clarification, substitutions and formulary changes as needed Prepares medication orders according to established policies, procedures and protocols
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required- Technician training, preferred- Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT), required
- At least two (2) years of work experience as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in a hospital, retail or specialty pharmacy setting, required
