Job Description
I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives. Better Homes and Gardens is seeking an organized, enthusiastic Editorial Assistant to join our digital team. We are looking for a digitally savvy writer and editor with a passion for all things home, food, and garden. Day-to-day, you will be responsible for creating and updating content in collaboration with BHG.com editors, partnering with SEO on content quality projects, and otherwise supporting all editorial efforts. About Your Contributions
Make updates to existing content for accuracy, helpfulness, style, substance, cultural sensitivity, and content quality
Work with the editorial team to help shape and enforce editorial strategy, increase audience, and drive user engagement
Work with team on ad-hoc projects with the goal of improving content quality
Participate in editorial meetings and pitch ideas for new content
Work within CMS to update existing content and build new articles
Source on-brand images, confirm photo contract rights, and edit to fit brand standards as needed

45% Support editorial team with content creation, including pitching story idea, writing, and producing articles in the CMS
35% Update existing content on a project-basis, including fact checking, topic and keyword research, and ensuring that the BHG voice and style are followed
10%Collaborate with the Print team to identify cross-platform content opportunities
10%Monitor analytics to identify trends in top and low performing content and report on findings

Education:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism or communications.
Experience:
This is an entry-level position. Some experience developing and curating digital content for web, email, and social environments against business goals is preferred.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience editing general interest, home, or lifestyle content
Strong record of balancing multiple projects and priorities
Experience with content management systems and web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics and SEMRush
Ability to convey the Better Homes and Gardens tone and perspective in writing
Proactive, flexible team player with entrepreneurial energy, able to roll with the punches and take ownership in a fluid and fast-moving environment
Outstanding organizational skills and innate ability to pay attention to detail and keep track of deadlines
Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and independently and collaborate with remote and contract editorial workers and staff team members
Strong writing, research, and copy-editing skills, with the ability to transform articles from mediocre to amazing
Mastery of written English and ability to edit stories based on style guides and/or content briefs with SEO top of mind
Fast learner and ability to develop expertise in various workflow tools
Experience with Adobe Photoshop preferred
