The Hertz Corporation Sr Full Stack Developer in Des Plaines, Illinois
A Day in the Life:
Join us in our effort to transform Hertz digitally! Recent innovations such as smartphones, electric vehicles, and ride-hailing apps have created new and exciting transportation opportunities that Hertz is uniquely positioned to capitalize on. We’re looking for software engineers who will modernize Hertz’s tech stack and, in the process, ship delightful products to meet the ever-increasing demands of our customers.
What you will do:
You will lead a team of 5 developers and participate in the entire software development lifecycle. You will work with product managers and other engineers to envision, build, and deliver products.
Analyze user requirements to define business objectives
Envisioning system features and functionality
Develop and test software
Identify and resolve any technical issues arising
Propose changes to the current infrastructure
Develop technical designs for application development
Write well-designed, testable code
Conducting software analysis, programming, testing, and debugging
Support continuous improvement, investigating alternatives and technologies, and presenting for architectural review
What We're Looking For:
5+ years of experience in the technology industry and a B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
Proficiency in nextjs, reactjs and Node.js; Python could be a plus
Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
Experience in writing unit tests and integration tests in Cypress or playwright
Ability to design systems of significant complexity
Ability to act as tech lead for projects end-to-end
Strong communication skills. You must be able to work with cross-functional partners to gather requirements
Strong product sense. You must be able to align your work with business objectives and make appropriate tradeoffs
Learning mentality. You must be able to pick up new skills as needed and demonstrate a curiosity about new technologies.
We expect the starting salary to be around $120,000 to $150,000 with annual bonus and profit sharing eligibility. The actual salary will be determined based on years of relevant work experience
