As a Repair Technician you will operate as part of a team within the off-line process responsible for the fitment/rework and test of parts/products to Caterpillar's acceptance standards.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Fitment/rework and test of non-conformances raised during the assembly process.

  • Follow documented dynamic risk assessments to perform safe and defect free assembly of parts and components, using various hand/power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area.

  • Fitment/rework and test of non-conformances raised during the assembly process, operating BCP built machines where required.

  • Train/coach new Assembly Technician’s/Apprentices within the area.

  • Read schematic drawings to identify possible root cause of varying faults.

  • Adhere to Caterpillar best working practices and Quality Acceptance Standards.

  • Follow and utilise Caterpillar Production System principles of continuous improvement reporting, waste elimination and standard work.

  • Participate in product / process improvement dialogues as required.

  • Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM).

  • Adhere to the company's Health & Safety policy and safe working practices.

  • Adhere to Caterpillar's Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork.

  • Undertake training and further learning as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable high level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy .

  • An experienced Assembly Technician with build experience.

  • The ability to learn to read hydraulic and electrical schematic drawings.

  • Able to operate BCP products (training will be provided).

  • Have a fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities (willing to work overtime).

  • The ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures.

  • The ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment.

  • High level of attention to detail.

  • Able to work on your own initiative and be self-motivated.

  • You will possess effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organisation.

  • Good problem solving skills, necessary to get to the root cause of issues.

  • Willing to undertake required training/learning.

  • Must be willing to work a multi-shift pattern.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience of reading hydraulic and electrical schematic drawings.

  • Previous rework/repair experience necessary.

Salary: £26,750 rising to £28,150 once competent
