The Senior Scrum Master guides and coaches the organization and team in the use of scrum / agile practices. They boost the effectiveness of teams by managing key, as well as complex projects, championing delivery success and operationalizing underlying processes to make development teams hum effectively. Senior Scrum Masters resolve impediments, monitor and have control over the scrum processes and meetings.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Agile Leadership: Provides strong leadership and mentorship to specific teams, product owners, and stakeholders, guiding them in the adoption and implementation of agile principles and Scrum practices. Forsters a self-organizing and empowered environment that enables teams to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget

  • Process facilitation: Facilitates and leads Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Ensures that teams adhere to the Scrum framework, follows agile best practices, and utilizes appropriate tools and metrics to track progress, identifies bottlenecks, and drives continuous improvement

  • Collaboration and communication: Fosters effective communication and collaboration between cross-functional teams, product owners, and stakeholders. Acts as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring a shared understanding of the project goals, priorities, and timelines. Proactively addresses any conflicts or challenges that may hinder team performance and delivery. Collaboratively identifies and synchronizes project interdependencies across multiple teams. Facilitates effective resource allocation across the programs.

  • Continuous improvement: Drives the continuous improvement of agile processes, methodologies, and tools across the organization. Identifies and implements process enhancements to optimize efficiency, productivity, and quality of deliverables. Encourages innovation to foster a culture of continuous leading and growth. Ensures the program benefits remain viable throughout the program, communicating status and date changes and actively manage dependencies.

  • Stakeholder management: Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders and manages these expectations regarding project scope, timelines, and deliverables. Collaborates closely with product owners to prioritize backlog items and ensures alignment with business goals. Provides regular project status updates and communicates any risks or impediments that may impact project success.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Seasoned career level experience with a Bachelor’s degree;

  • SAFe Scrum Master or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master certification.

  • Other related certifications and/or training (for example - SAFe DeVos, Implementing SAFe etc.).

Required Experience:

  • Advanced scrum master experience in an ICT environment, managing software projects and working with software development teams

  • Advanced experience in Scrum Management

  • Excellent knowledge of Agile concepts and principles

  • Advanced experience as a coach and mentor in agile practices (Scrum, Kanban etc.)

  • Experience with warefall methodologies
