The CO+I, Datacenter business is looking to fill the role of Manufacturing Quality Engineer in the North and South Carolina region. The CO+I Supply Chain organization is responsible for delivering Datacenter Quality for Microsoft’s cloud business. We have a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary suppliers providing infrastructure comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 100 datacenters and 1 million servers. Responsibilities

The manufacturing quality engineer is responsible for enhancing manufacturing quality by monitoring and improving supplier production processes quality systems and output of the factory. This role involves active engagement with key critical suppliers to ensure they meet our high-quality standards, rigorous production timelines and continuous improvement goals.

  • Conduct supplier assessments and production readiness reviews to evaluate capabilities and effectiveness of quality systems.

  • Monitor production progress at supplier sites, ensuring adherence to schedules and established quality standards.

  • Implement and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supplier quality, delivery, and responsiveness.

  • Support equipment qualifications and first pass yield continuous improvement projects within supplier operations, employing frameworks such Kaizen/Lean Action Work Outs.

  • Develop and execute risk management plans to identify and mitigate potential supply chain disruptions on part availability.

  • Support/facilitate training and development programs for key suppliers on manufacturing quality management practices.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align quality requirements and provide visibility on supplier performance.

  • Report on supplier performance, highlight successes, areas of improvement, and risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of Technical Engineering Experience

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) of technical engineering experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in any combination of the following disciplines: Manufacturing, Quality, Sustaining, Supply Chain, Reliability, or related

Other Requirements:

  • These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Reliability, or related organization

  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Reliability, or related organization.

  • Experience in manufacturing quality and supply chain, preferably in a critical environment or electrical equipment sector.

  • Manufacturing knowledge, with experience in multiple sectors and industries.

  • Knowledge of datacenter industry and experience managing a variety of project delivery methods - ability to lead a project team in defining risk.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage large scale change and influence in a matrixed organization.

  • Provide cross-functional communication and produce detailed reports on supplier progress, and equipment quality readiness status.

  • Develops positive relationships and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams in manufacturing, Engineering, Sourcing, to implement an effective program and address issues.

Electrical Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
