We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Virtualization Systems Engineer for a full-time position to lead and manage virtual infrastructure systems.

Job Overview:

The Virtualization Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing, configuring, and monitoring the entire virtual infrastructure. This includes deployment, integration, and maintenance of virtualization solutions such as VMware, Nutanix, and other cutting-edge platforms. The role demands extensive expertise in managing system performance, ensuring availability, troubleshooting issues, and designing virtualization solutions to meet future needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Management: Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure to ensure smooth and efficient operation.

  • Virtualization Technologies: Install, configure, and manage virtualization technologies such as VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter), Nutanix (AHV), OpenShift, Harvester, Kubevirt, and similar platforms.

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure high availability and reliability of the infrastructure.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to storage, networking, and performance in the virtualized environment.

  • Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage disaster recovery solutions, particularly using VMware SRM.

  • Security: Maintain the security of the virtual infrastructure by applying patches, updates, and other security measures.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with standards such as SOX and PCI.

  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation on the virtual infrastructure, including configurations, procedures, and performance metrics.

  • Collaboration: Work with other IT teams to integrate virtualization platforms with other systems and applications.

  • Capacity Planning: Analyze current systems and project future capacity needs to ensure long-term scalability.

  • Automation: Develop and maintain scripts using Ansible, PowerShell, Python, or similar tools to automate tasks and improve operational efficiency.

  • Cloud: Provision and manage resources in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) to extend on-premise capabilities.

  • Containers: Implement and manage containerization solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher.

  • Architecture: Design and architect virtualization solutions for data centers, servers, and desktop virtualization.

  • Lead Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert on virtualization technologies and provide leadership in technical project meetings and solutions.

Required Skills and Certifications:

  • Certifications: VMware (VCP), Nutanix (NCP), or equivalent virtualization certification preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in managing and supporting virtualization technologies.

  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware, Nutanix, OpenShift, and related platforms.

  • Extensive knowledge of cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.

  • Experience with automation and scripting tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, Puppet, Python, and Bash.

  • Knowledge of storage protocols (NFS, iSCSI) and networking concepts (TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls, etc.).

  • Familiarity with SOX and PCI compliance.

  • Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.

Education Requirements:

  • A degree from an accredited College/University in a relevant field is preferred.

  • NOTE: If the candidate does not possess a degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
