MicroStar Quality Services Plant Accountant in Eagle Pass, Texas

Summary

The Plant Accountant reports directly to the Plant Manager. As a key member of our Customer Ready! quality team, the Plant Accountant is a key resource for the leadership team in the Eagle Pass plant. This position will contribute to the MQS business goals by delivering sound accounting and financial data, analysis and recommendations to the Plant Manager and Corporate Finance Team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform accounting functions including processing month-end close, cost accounting, inventory counts and control, report generation, general ledger transactions and reconciliations
  • Prepare financial and production information/reports; and conduct analysis of trends
  • Track capital expenditures by project
  • Collaborate with headquarters in month-end close and year-end close
  • Perform month-end inventory accounts and document best practices for plant accounting, inventory, and cost controls
  • Assist in the processing of payroll
  • Assist the Plant Manager in developing financial objectives and strategies for the Eagle Pass plant operation
  • Oversee purchasing activities including vendor procurement/negotiation, administrative tracking, cost control, etc.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely processing of requisitions, purchase orders and receiving activities
  • Contribute to budget development, monitor costs to target and provide updated forecasts and income statement projections, creating cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
  • 4 years of previous manufacturing experience in cost accounting is preferred
  • Solid understanding of inventory accounting - weighted average and standard cost methods
  • Strong und rstanding of month-end close processes and financial reporting
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in NetSuite is preferred
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • This position is in a production / manufacturing work environment.
  • The employee may be exposed to high noise level, manufacturing/electrical equipment, pressurized equipment, moving objects, hazardous materials, fumes/odors, dirt/dust, and warm/cold temperatures.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when on the production floor to include: steel toe boots, hearing protection and eye protection. No loose clothing, jewelry, or accessories are allowed.

Salary Range: $60,000 - 70,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty and training.
