Enterprise Monitoring Administrator

Position Summary

The Enterprise Monitoring Administrator will independently develop complex technical specifications for the enterprise monitoring infrastructure and perform daily administrative tasks. This incorporates researching, creating, and adding monitors and alerts using SolarWinds for mission critical devices.

 

This position will include the following duties:

 

  • Develops viable solutions and analyzes escalation steps for resolution using current monitoring tool 'SolarWinds'. Also responsible for monitoring health of enterprise monitoring tool.
  • Installs, configures, implements, and supports SolarWinds.
  • Acts independently as a monitoring liaison to IT staff on their monitoring requirements.
  • Develops and implements monitoring scripts within SolarWinds.
  • Assists in planning, developing, and implementing new policies, procedures and practices related to new or updated software.
  • Collaborates with multiple MSU IT customers to identify monitoring requirements and reporting metrics. Also provides customized reports and dashboards.
  • Participates as an independent, fully functioning professional member of large/complex project teams.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; experience administrating an enterprise monitoring tool and the configuration of the tool; experience in Windows or Linux; experience working with networking devices (Cisco or Juniper); understanding of application architecture; basic knowledge of VMware and MS-SQL; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
