This Controller position is in a very dynamic and high profile area with significant visibility at executive management level. If that interests you, this might be the position for you. Robert Half has an opening for a Controller, who will become part of our client's team. The Controller position will be located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and is a long-term contract / temporary engagement.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate closely with the Management team to establish financial objectives and develop annual operating plans and budgets. Lead cross-functional process improvements to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability. Provide periodic reporting and analysis of operating results and advise the President on financial matters.

  2. Manage the general accounting, standard and job cost accounting, and bookkeeping activities, ensuring quality, accuracy, and thoroughness. Oversee inventory control, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, and other financial activities. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure prompt collection of amounts owed to the Company.

  3. Prepare regular financial reports and present them to the Management Team. Review financial accounts, analyze information, and make recommendations for changes and improvements. Conduct special projects as needed or requested.

  4. Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of computerized information systems in conjunction with the Vice President of Operations. Identify information needs, assess system capabilities, and design data collection and reporting activities. Implement new programs and procedures as necessary to meet financial management information needs.

  5. Supervise employees in the Accounting and Human Resources functions. Recruit, interview, hire, and orient new employees. Train, coach, conduct performance appraisals, administer wages, and discipline employees. Monitor daily activities to ensure timely and accurate work. Conduct weekly staff meetings and seek employee input on operational improvements.

  6. Manage the overall purchasing function, working closely with the Sales Team to optimize buying power. Review new contract terms with the Management team for authorization.

  7. Ensure the accuracy of inventory costing and profitable pricing of products by working with the Sales team and Production Division to gather information, analyze results, and make process changes.

  8. Safeguard the financial resources of the business through internal controls and general security programs.

  9. Oversee the preparation and conducting of scheduled physical inventories and investigate significant discrepancies.

  10. Oversee the preparation and accounting for Company payrolls, ensuring proper closure and timely preparation of W-2's and employment tax reports.

  11. Compose correspondence, memos, reports, etc., and maintain departmental record-keeping and filing systems.

  12. Stay current with developments in accounting issues and discuss findings/questions with the Management team and/or CPA firm.

  13. Work with the CPA firm on tax planning and ensure the timely payment and filing of all taxes

    Requirements - Excellent efficiency in office and accounting computer systems

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field

    • CPA and/or CMA preferred
  • Working knowledge of ERP system

  • Proven ability to provide leadership across finance team by engaging with different groups around the world via virtual communication

  • Deep understanding of Asset Inventory

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Printing

  • Epaces experience

  • Knowledge of Leadership Skills

  • Manufacturing experience preferred

  • Adeptness in eCommerce

  • Comprehensive knowledge of implementation

  • Proven analytical skills with ability to implement solutions and vendor management experience with good organizational skills

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with experience in establishing trusted advisor/consultant relationships and proven ability to influence Executives and Business Decision Makers

  • 5+ years professional accounting and controllership or public accounting and internal controls experience and/or Internal Audit or Controls and Compliance

  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead change, and build process improvements
