Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Reliability Supervisor to join our team at our Cement Plant in Edmonton, Alberta. This role reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

This position’s primary objective is to manage the site condition monitoring programs and maintenance plans. This includes lubrication, oil analysis, vibration analysis, and the development & optimization of equipment inspections. This position will propose ways to extend equipment lifetime and reduce maintenance costs, including development and monitoring condition-based maintenance programs and executing reliability and improvement projects.

What you'll Get to Do:

The Reliability Supervisor’s specific duties will include the following:

  • Manage all aspects of the oil analysis & equipment lubrication program

  • Manage all aspects of the site vibration monitoring program

  • Develop asset maintenance plans

  • Plan, direct and oversee lubrication, vibration and preventative maintenance inspection work

  • In conjunction with the Maintenance Planner, determines the priority and scheduling of inspection and repair work to prevent equipment breakdown and allow operations to continue as scheduled.

  • Provide relief coverage for the Maintenance Supervisors as needed to provide continuous oversight to the maintenance function. In addition, be responsible for being “on-call” on a rotating basis to always provide maintenance availability for plant problems.

Execution of these specific duties will be achieved through the following:

  • Host regular reviews of plant downtime and drive improvement actions

  • Analyze mechanical failures and problems to determine the potential causes and make recommendations for changes in maintenance routines to prevent similar occurrences. Oversees the implementation of agreed-upon recommendations to minimize future failures.

  • Ensure adequate lubrication of plant machinery. Manage lubrication programs for oil samples and analysis of all major components.

  • Maintain files on equipment wear, oil analysis, etc. to assist in the prediction of component replacement to achieve maximum service life.

  • Oversees and performs continuous inspections of all plant equipment to ensure reliability. Update SAP with the results of inspections for tracking and planning purposes.

  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisors in the training of staff on maintenance techniques and diagnostics to further increase the quality of work performed, enhance the identification of problems, and ensure safe work practices.

  • Contribute to a safe working environment by conducting and attending weekly safety meetings. Provide daily inspection of the department for unsafe working conditions and signs of equipment breakdown to reduce or eliminate injuries and lost-time incidents.

  • Provide technical assistance for maintenance personnel in preventive maintenance matters to enable continuous plant operations.

  • Provide ongoing maintenance support to the plant for all shifts by participating in the plant’s on-call program. This includes evaluating and determining the course of action for maintenance incidents after hours and on weekends while on call and may require on-site supervision of the resolution to maintain operational efficiency.

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or red seal millwright

  • Prior experience in preventative maintenance strongly preferred

  • Experience working with large rotating heavy industry machinery and equipment

  • Strong knowledge of SAP maintenance functions

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others

  • Knowledge of the principles of predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance including oil analysis & vibration analysis

  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus

  • Demonstrated attention to detail

  • Ability to perform tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.

The role operates primarily in a plant environment where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
