Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Builds and sustains an independent, extramurally funded research program in neuroscience

  • Embraces the vision of the Center of Emphasis in Neuroscience, engages in the Center's and Department's activities, and interacts with other members of the Center, Department, and Institution in a collegial, team-oriented fashion

  • Participates in teaching team-taught courses in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and/or the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine

  • Mentors medical and graduate students

  • Engages in academically-related public service to the academic and regional community

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable institutional, state and federal policies and procedures, especially those pertaining to research

  • Adheres to all institutional and departmental policies and procedures

  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Neuroscience research experience in extramurally funded programs

  • Experience and proficiency in cellular, biochemical, molecular and genetic methods, including animal models

  • Experience in teaching graduate and medical students

  • Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher

Pay Statement:

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D., M.D., M.D.-Ph.D., or equivalent degree in the field of biological sciences

  • A minimum of four years post-doctoral experience or equivalent

  • Research experience in the field of neurosciences

  • Record of peer reviewed publications

  • Experience in grant writing
