Major/Essential Functions:
Builds and sustains an independent, extramurally funded research program in neuroscience
Embraces the vision of the Center of Emphasis in Neuroscience, engages in the Center's and Department's activities, and interacts with other members of the Center, Department, and Institution in a collegial, team-oriented fashion
Participates in teaching team-taught courses in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and/or the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine
Mentors medical and graduate students
Engages in academically-related public service to the academic and regional community
Ensures compliance with all applicable institutional, state and federal policies and procedures, especially those pertaining to research
Adheres to all institutional and departmental policies and procedures
Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications:
Neuroscience research experience in extramurally funded programs
Experience and proficiency in cellular, biochemical, molecular and genetic methods, including animal models
Experience in teaching graduate and medical students
Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D., M.D., M.D.-Ph.D., or equivalent degree in the field of biological sciences
A minimum of four years post-doctoral experience or equivalent
Research experience in the field of neurosciences
Record of peer reviewed publications
Experience in grant writing
