Job Summary:

The Airborne RF Sensors department has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Principal REX Systems Engineering Technical Lead. The REX Technical Lead provides technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle, including hardware and software design, development, integration, and test (I&T), and requirements verification using the Stages process.

By joining the Airborne RF Sensor department you’ll have the opportunity to work with other program IPTLs (Integrated Product Technical Leads) and functional management to plan tasks and deconflict resources.

This is an On-Site role in El Segundo, CA

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the multi-disciplinary/ cross-functional team, ensuring the associated products are developed and delivered within allotted cost, schedule, technical quality, and performance parameters.

  • Collaborate with the Program Manager (PM), Lead System Engineer (LSE), and Chief Engineer (CE) to establish program organization, schedule (IMS) and milestones, Planning Packages, Program Management Reports, and Performance Management Baselines.

  • Document requirement verification.

  • Influence others to accept job function’s view/practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices, and approaches. Communicate with executive leadership regarding matters of significant importance to the organization.

  • Conduct briefings with senior leaders within the job function.

  • Responsible for improving upon existing processes and systems using significant conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation.

  • Mentor the early career engineers and review their work for quality.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related STEM discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience with specific experience in the following areas below:

  • Radar modes and how it maps to REX parameters.

  • Waveforms used, timing and control.

  • Detection range, high power interferers, ground clutter and how it maps to gain, noise figure, IP3, ADC attack point

  • Monopulse and digital beamforming

  • Transmit and receive chain (i.e. antenna and processor included)

  • End-to-end performance analysis

  • Mode/blake sheets

  • Present in written and oral forms to managers, peers, and customers

  • An active and current DoD US Security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading a team of electrical (RF and digital), firmware, and mechanical engineers.

  • Understand hardware command and control via scheduling of Application Programming Intervals

  • Integrate and test in a radar system lab environment.

  • Digital signal processing (I/Q formation, decimation, video filters, FFTs, windowing, etc.)

  • Flight test experience; flight data analysis.

  • Conduct detailed analysis to predict system performance, error margins, & performance budgets.

  • Special Test Equipment (STE) for test and operation

  • Signal processing, modeling, & simulation

  • MBSE software (Cameo & Rhapsody), Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS), DOORS, Agile, DevOps, scrum, software & languages (MATLAB, SysML, Python, Bash, C++, Java)

The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
