Raytheon Intelligence and Space organization is currently seeking qualified Engineers in the area of EO/IR payloads, for both active and passive systems, including Communication systems. This position will support projects requiring novel ways of using space, science, cybersecurity technologies, and payloads to solve space-based problems. The Engineer will support SWAP, performance, affordability analysis and trade studies across entire constellations including ground segment, mission planning, and Modeling/Simulation efforts.

This technical position requires a top performer with domain knowledge and the ability to create new payloads and paradigms in the areas of EO/IR remote sensing, EO/IR communication systems. This role requires regular engagement with senior tech leaders, senior managers, internal Raytheon teams, and active participation in customer and program technical reviews. The Engineer is responsible for aiding technical solutions that satisfy a diverse set of customer requirements.

This position is eligible for a sign on bonus up to $12,000

Responsibilities of the Engineer include:

  • Aiding with the development of space mission payloads and architecture trades

  • Aiding with the development of the technical vision and strategies for solving real world problem across a variety of programs

  • Aiding with the engineering for space systems programs from product concept, proposal development, to integration & test and product delivery.

  • Aiding with the engineering guidance to all decisions impacting product integrity, system performance, and system functionality.

  • Aiding with the technical support in developing and maintaining the analysis to predict overall system performance

  • Coordinate and help develop the technical presentations

Required Skills:

  • Current and Active TS/SCI Clearance Required

  • 6 years prior relevant experience

  • 3 years’ experience in space Systems Engineering or EO/IR communication engineering

  • Modeling and Simulation exposure in Matlab or other modeling tool

  • Experience with requirements development, analysis, verification and validation

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation), and experience dealing with customers, management, technical staff, and internal / external organizations

  • Familiar in the engineering design of EO/IR systems and associated special test equipment

  • Famliar in preparing briefings to senior technical leaders

  • Capable of effectively working in a team environment, often under tight deadlines

  • Demonstrated desire to successfully pursue new challenges, improve and broaden technical skills, seek greater responsibilities, and increase individual value to the organization

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems

Desired Skills:

  • Familiar with space hardware

  • Mission Engineering of space systems

  • Experience in IV&V planning, test methodologies and test requirements development for space systems

  • Experience in environmental test methods

  • Familiar in deploying a rigorous Integrated Product Development Process

  • Ability to perform payload SWAP, performance, and affordability analyses, as well as trade studies in ground segment, constellation design, and communication payloads.

  • Familiar in performing Mission & CONOPS analysis

  • Experience using STK

  • Experience working Pre-Milestone A / Concept Refinement efforts where the requirements are still be defined.

Education Requirements:

Required Education:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Sciences, Math, or related STEM discipline

Desired Education:

  • Masters of Science degree in Engineering, Sciences, Math, or related STEM discipline

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $86,500 to $160,000; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
