Position Overview
Navistar has an exciting new opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer - Vehicle Electronics / Programing to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team at our Advanced Technology Center in Elmendorf, TX, just outside of San Antonio.
The Manufacturing Engineer - Vehicle Electronics / Programing will work in our Vehicle Electronics Integration program and will support production line as well as drive common processes at all our manufacturing plants. Responsibility will be to identify and understand new program objectives related to vehicle electronics and electrical components. Troubleshoot issues on the assembly line, document noted issues, and develop containment documentation. Additional responsibility will be to lead Vehicle Electronics Integration and Vehicle testing at all our manufacturing plants.
Responsibilities
Responsible for being the point position for communicating vehicle programming and validation changes and ensuring common processes at all manufacturing plants
Follow up on the implementation of engineering changes, variations from design specification as well as new program developments
Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Support testing of design for durability and compliance to federal, state, and local requirements
Works directly with Production, Product Engineering, Quality, IT, Manufacturing Engineering, and other Vehicle Electronic Integrator members at other facilities
Supports Manufacturing and plant goals for safety, quality, and cost
Review/adapt existing or create new machine specifications to satisfy program requirements for end of line process equipment functionality and integration
Direct involvement in spec development, vendor selection, design reviews, and equipment buy-off of new or retooled equipment
Overseeing equipment installation activities, including coordination with plant technical services and vendor provided installation resources
Work is accomplished through independent contributions or project work requiring advanced subject area knowledge and decision-making skills
Fully proficient in applying established manufacturing standards, resolving a wide range of complex problems of diverse scope in innovative ways, including problems where precedent may not exist
Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services or processes
Ability to organize and develop detailed planning processes for later execution - event driven schedules
May instruct, coach, or provide informal guidance to other professionals or colleagues with less experience
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
At least 5 years of experience in product manufacturing
OR
Master’s degree
At least 3 years of experience in product manufacturing
OR
- At least 7 years of experience in product manufacturing
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
Direct involvement with manufacturing end of line process equipment and flow is highly desired
Experience with commercial vehicle manufacturing or industrial construction is preferred
Past deployment of end of line test equipment
Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to all levels
Leadership and ability to drive projects
Must be able to perform in a collaborative, dynamic environment with regularly shifting priorities while striving for consistency and standardization in every project
Microsoft office suite, project and excel
