Superior Ambulance Service Patient Account Representative in Elmhurst, Illinois

Overview

The Patient Account Representative will join our team in a customer service role, specializing in insurance processing revenue collection and patient relations.

The Patient Account Representative may participate in other projects or special assignments in other sections of the Accounts Receivable department when appropriate.

The starting pay range is $19.00/hr - $23.00.hr

Responsibilities

Clerical:

  • Places and receives calls regarding billing insurance questions and other patient serviceactivities. Process accounts according to action required to resolve account balances.

  • Resolving insurance carrier denials, appealing claims, contacting carriers on open accounts andresponding to insurance carrier correspondence and/or inquiries.

  • Research patient accounts to verify all insurance coverages. Audit patient accounts to verifyproper billing process was followed.

  • Compute adjustments based on EOB's remittance and insurance contracts.

  • Ensure accuracy in data entry and consistent attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and deescalating skills.

  • Collect outstanding balances while following company policy and procedures.

  • Reduce friction and employ one-step resolution practices for clients and patients through openlines of communication.

  • Demonstrates knowledge & compliance of insurance, local, state, and federal billing.

  • Ability to complete tasks efficiently both individually and in group environment.

  • Identify, address, and resolve account discrepancies.

  • Practice most current billing policies and procedures.

  • Screen and professionally address emails, faxes, and other correspondence.

  • Comfortable communicating with any caller including customers, agencies, facilities, andhospitals.

Other:

  • Handle assigned correspondence.

  • Fulfill any other duties as assigned by managerial staff.

Qualifications

  • College preferred but not required.

  • Minimum two years experience in customer care, account management or similar role.

  • Healthcare knowledge is preferred.

  • Must be a quick learner and motivated individual.

  • Excellent verbal communications skills.

  • Fluency in second language is a plus, Spanish preferred.

  • Ability to “Multi-task” and manage spurs of high call volume / stress.

  • Experience working active office environment.

  • Basic knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurances.

  • Positive, can-do attitude!

  • Ability to receive and implement feedback.

  • Computer literacy; typing of at least 45 WPM is highly desired.

  • Good judgement: demonstrating ability to escalate account when necessary.
