Position Overview:

The Vice President of Support Services is a key leadership position responsible for shaping and executing the strategic direction of the support services functions (e.g., housekeeping, maintenance, and nutrition services) within the organization. This role involves enhancing operational efficiency, driving customer satisfaction, and leading a high-performing team dedicated to providing exceptional service. The VP will work collaboratively with other executives to ensure that support services align with overall business goals and objectives. Responsible for planning, directing and overseeing three or more of the organization's support functions

As the Vice President of Support Services, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the provision of high-quality, nutritious meals and clinical nutrition services across our healthcare facilities in addition to environmental services:

•Responsible for the planning, organizing, developing, staffing, coordinating and providing strategic direction and oversight of food and nutrition services across the system. You will oversee all aspects of food service operations, clinical nutrition, including menu planning, procurement, production, and distribution, while adhering to industry regulations and standards. Implements various cost savings components to operations and standardizes processes where appropriate. Additionally, you will lead initiatives to promote nutrition education and wellness programs aimed at enhancing the overall health and well-being of our patients, staff, and community.

•Ensures environmental, cleaning and waste management services are provided in an effective and timely manner and in accordance with regulations. Collaborate with clinical, infection prevention and waste management teams to develop and implement cleaning and sanitation protocols in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

•Partner with acute care site leadership and system patient experience and clinical leadership to contribute to patient experience goals.

Job Description :

Education, Certification & Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; MBA preferred.

  • Certification and/or licensure relevant to professional leadership experience preferred, such as but not limited to the following examples: Registered Dietitian (RD), Certified Dietary Manager (CDM), CHSP-Certified Healthcare Safety Professional, CHEM-Certified Healthcare Environmental Manager, etc.

Typical Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in food and nutrition, housekeeping and environmental services, preferably in a healthcare setting. 10 years relevant director level leadership experience required.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage budgets, establish work processes, quality and productivity standards and policies and procedures designed to ensure optimal system performance.

  • Proficiency and experience in standardization of food service, housekeeping, and environmental operations, including menu planning, procurement, production, and distribution across multiple facilities.

  • Strong understanding of nutrition principles, dietary guidelines, and therapeutic diets.

  • Experience with computerized food service management systems and productivity tools.

  • A comprehensive knowledge of all The Joint Commission, Title 22/State, federal, state licensing, and other local regulations as they relate to Nutrition & Food Services and other relevant areas.

  • Experience with strategic planning, implementation, and standardization of a retail program and initiatives across a system, including vending and retail outlets (i.e., coffee kiosks, etc.).

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and disciplines to meet system wide integration that meets service needs as well as administrative and departmental needs in the various entities.

  • Must be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently.

  • An ability to meet deadlines and implement projects effectively across multiple entities is an integral part of the work responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of technological advancements, labor savings procedures and equipment, and other state-of the art departmental specific systems.

  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

  • An ability to deal with complex situations and a large degree of variation in policies, rules, and regulations. Is critical. Flexibility, adaptability, and creativity and innovation.

  • Demonstrated experience in the use of word processing, graphics, and spreadsheet software.

The primary office location of this position will be in Sacramento, CA or Emeryville, CA.

Pay Range is $132.81 to $179.69 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
