Collins Aerospace in Fairfield, CA is seeking a highly motivated and flexible individual to fill the role oof Environmental Test Tech I .The Environmental Test Technician operates under close supervision of the area Supervisor and/or Group Leader. The Environmental Test Technician has the responsibility to determine a pass or fail determination based on a given set of testing criteria using a helium leak mass spectrometer (leak detector). Technicians are responsible for the routine set up and care for the helium leak equipment and tooling. Technician will often have to coordinate with engineering to evaluate tooling and specific testing methodology.

Compensation:

  • 25.00 per hour starting rate*

    Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 7 am-3:30 pm

  • Overtime available and/or mandatory on a business need basis

    Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates proper use of simple hand and machine tools.

  • Proficiently operates Helium Testing equipment.

  • Performs routine and continuous Helium Testing operations.

  • Reads and follows work orders or standard work to perform Helium Testing functions.

  • Understands quality criteria and requirements for the Helium area.

  • Ensures safe ergonomic practices.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Works with team members to promote teamwork.

  • Ensures Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) standards and procedures are met and complied.

  • Eliminates safety hazards and improves overall safety of the workplace.

  • Provides continuous improvement ideas to support lean and CORE initiatives.

  • Responsible for quality product by utilizing Collins Aerospace quality procedures.

  • Audit work area for safety compliance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

  • Typically requires an HS Diploma or GED. In the absence of an HS diploma or GED, two years of relevant experience is typically required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of explosive or chemical manufacturing or handling experience is preferred for Level I.

  • Minimum 1-2 years Aerospace or Automotive experience with Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Testing.
