The Department of Computer Systems is a growing department with almost eight hundred major students, offering degrees in Computer Science and in Computer Programming and Information System as well as various minors. The Department is seeking to fill a Lecturer position beginning Fall 2024. The candidate will teach five courses per semester in some combination of day, evening, and/or online. Candidates should be able to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: Programming in Java, C, C#, and/or C++; Databases, including SQL programming; Computer Networking; Cloud Services; Human Computer Interaction / Interaction Design. The lecturer will be expected to teach various existing lower-level courses across the curriculum as well as develop and teach advanced courses in their areas of expertise. The lecturer will participate in student advisement and campus service activities. Candidates who are invited to the campus for an interview will be required to present a demonstration lesson on a topic chosen by the Search Committee.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree (MA/MS) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, MIS or a closely related field from a regionally accredited university.

  • Excellent communications skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least one year of college level teaching experience or TA experience.

  • Doctorate in Computer Science, CIS, MIS or closely related field a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach a broad range of courses across the curriculum.

  • Ability to teach some required or elective upper-level curriculum courses.

    Additional Information:

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Wednesday, May 22, 2024, and ending Wednesday, June 5, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • SALARY: $65,000 + $3,400 in downstate location pay = $68,400 Total Compensation.

  • ANTICIPATED START DATE: September 1, 2024
