Compensation: $83,200 - $101,920 per year

Skookum is seeking a HVAC Maintenance Trades Supervisor to join our team!

As a HVAC Maintenance Trades Supervisor, you'll… be responsible for both work execution and employee support for HVAC systems at Fort Liberty. Work execution includes all aspects including planned maintenance, customer liaison, field issue resolution, reliability, documentation, process improvement, leveraging CMMS/Mobility, and leading results. Employee support includes safety, training, mentoring, career planning and performance management assessments.

Facility Maintenance functions include maintenance of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, structural, and other trade areas. The HVAC Group is responsible for maintaining and repairing all HVAC equipment and systems – ensuring high quality, reliability, and identified of repair and replacement projects and working in concert with the HVAC and Structural Groups

Other duties include interaction with customers, government customers, contractors, and company leadership.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead all aspects of work execution for assigned shops and Technicians – ensuring on-time, on-cost, on-quality execution with outstanding safety compliance. Identify and resolve process improvement areas either directly or through support personnel including logistics, production and Maximo.

  • Create and sustain a positive safety culture and successful safety practices that support an injury-free workplace.

  • Identify both OJT and formal training needed to advance technician’s skills and effectiveness

  • Understand and leverage Maximo, mobility, and Power BI to ensure effective and efficient work processes and results. Identify process improvements and resolve directly or through support personnel.

  • Lead HVAC system reliability – identifying improvements to planned maintenance, work execution and other areas to extend system life and quality. Identify repair and replacement projects for DPW funding. Ensure accurate asset inventory, condition rating and technician notes.

  • Keep track of personnel and work schedule to ensure work is completed on time.

  • Update deputy site manager, and site manager on status of team when requested.

  • Respond to customer inquiries, complaints and Quality Control follow-up actions.

  • Train employees on job tasks and assignments to ensure complete understanding of work assigned.

  • Monitor employee performance to ensure efficient use of time and priorities of work tasks.

  • Operating hand tools, such as wrenches to join or fasten equipment and/or materials, to perform simple tasks of a trade.

  • Communicates and interacts directly with the customer, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.

  • Coach, mentor and resolve employee concerns in a respectful and mutually beneficial manner.

  • Ensure the Maintenance crews documentation is turned in a timely manner

  • Ensures safety procedures are practiced and strives to maintain an accident-free environment.

  • Ensure company rules, regulations and policies are followed by all employees supervised.

  • Oversee a variety of PM”s ( Preventive Maintenance ) to include monthly scheduling for HVAC and other assigned groups.

  • Ensures completed work meets quality control standards and coordinate with the Quality Control Manager.

  • Will demonstrate best practices while performing HVAC and other assigned trade tasks

  • Responsible for Maintenance Shop cleanliness.

  • Must exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs and safety procedures

  • Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of daily work.

  • Must be able to read and understand the intent of the scope of work orders.

  • Responsible for ensuring all employees/technicians perform work in a safe and respectful manner.

  • Communicating with customers – always be courteous and communicate in a professional manner when talking with customers.

  • Must be knowledgeable of the regulations on hazardous material, hazardous waste, and the right to know information sheets.

  • Possess knowledge of handling emergency of hazardous waste spills.

  • Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.

  • Must be available for after hours on call responsibilities.

  • All Other Duties as Assigned*

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, required

  • 5 – 8 years of previous experience in facilities or equipment, required

  • Previous working knowledge of HVAC required, preferred experience with Metasys and Tridium

  • Identification and safe mitigation of mold-contaminated building materials, preferred

  • Maintenance Management qualification such as Certified Reliability Leader (CRL) OR Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) required within 2 years of hire

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to push/pull and/or move up to 70 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Requirements:

  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum’s insurance.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
