Boehringer Ingelheim Central Finance Lead in Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Position

Lead the central finance function. Responsible and accountable for financial statements, in compliance with German and local GAAP, and in adherence to corporate accounting standards. Provides timely and accurate input to the GBSC for non rule-based entries. Interact with local external auditors and other fiscal authorities. Support coordination and follow the overall closing process of year/month-end closing. Ensure compliant application of local tax laws with fair taxation and efficient tax solutions, in collaboration with GBSC and local tax service provider. Execute the global treasury strategy and ensure compliance with local currency regulations. Support ROPU Center in implementation and roll out of the regional SOP and Work Instruction and alignment of any topics.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Finance accounting and reporting in accordance with local standards and German GAAP, and adherence to corporate accounting standards, for FS1 and FS2.

  • Support closing processes and perform local specific external reporting requirements beyond the GBS framework, including required reconciliations and required BU specific provisions. Coordinate and support local audits and other fiscal and tax related advisory services. Submit exceptional financial reporting to headquarters.

  • Execution and monitoring of internal control (CoSeA), and CapEx management and input for fixed asset accounting to GBSC. Collect provision information for BU specific issues from BU Controlling.

  • Through tax transformation, transfer pricing, GST/VAT, CIT and withholding tax will be managed centrally by GBSC Tax/Corporate Tax with the support of external tax consultants.

  • This role will continue to build a strong tax compliance and excellence culture in the local organization by working cooperatively with Corporate Tax, GBSC Tax and external tax consultants. These will include but not limited to execution of global/local tax and transfer pricing strategies, regular touchpoints with Corporate tax/ GBSC Tax/ External tax consultants and review of any required tax accounting documentation.

  • Ensure local cash resources are managed to maintain the lowest possible cost to the Corporation with the highest possible cash flow. Identify and communicate financial risks. Provide input to risk evaluation, plan operational liquidity and coordinate cash flow forecast. Manage intercompany loan accounts. Support the Credit management approval process together with BU Controlling and OPU teams. Manage/ place local insurance in alignment with BI Secura.

  • Guide, train and oversee the finance accounts executive into performing month-end and year end closing to ensure transactions are adequately supported and in compliance with statutory and internal requirements. These will include but not limited to balance sheet schedules, supporting documentation, month year and year end accruals, submission of BCS Reporting and review and approval of month end and year end journals within the local organization on a timely basis.

  • Inform the finance accounts executive if there are any required changes to T&E Process due to local tax and regulation changes so that the finance accounts executive (who is the key contact for T&E) can work with GBSC on the changes.

  • Support ROPU Center in terms of implementation and roll out of the regional SOP and WI in the local OPUs and alignment with ROPU Center for any upcoming changes or issues.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Certified Public Accountant preferred.

  • Tax and Treasury knowledge and experience.

  • Experience in writing Finance SOP.

  • Ability to quickly understand complex topics and focus on the critical key areas.

  • Ability to work under changing conditions and prioritize activities.

  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills, and the ability to prepare complex topics ad explain them in an understandable way to non-expert stakeholders.

  • Strong focus on governance.

  • Strong in business partnering.
