ABM Industries Maintenance Technician in Flint, Michigan

Overview

Perform various routine maintenance assignments and assist other Engineering Department personnel in the repair and maintenance of physical structures, equipment, and fixtures of the facility and goods.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Work from written requisitions or verbal instructions

  • Prioritize urgency of work requests

  • Provide light carpentry duties; install shelving, and repair windows, screens, blinds, and suspended ceilings

  • Operate a variety of power and hand tools

  • Obtain and replace lamps

  • Assist Engineering Department personnel as assigned by supervisor

  • Provide general maintenance service to facility personnel, i.e., assemble furniture and accessories

  • Maintain work area and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly condition

  • Follow standard and prescribed safety regulations

  • Respond to all facility emergency codes

  • Attend facility-sponsored training in Blood Borne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Right-ToKnow, and Chemical Hygiene

  • Assist with snow removal as situation demands

  • Attend facility-sponsored training in Blood Borne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Right-ToKnow, and Chemical Hygiene

Job Relationships

  • Report to the supervisor

  • Collaborate with Engineering Department personnel to solicit expertise of required crafts necessary to complete assigned projects

  • Serve as consultant to facility personnel in recommending specific courses of action to attain desired goals

Authority

  • Requisition relevant supplies and tools

  • Solicit assistance of other Engineering Department personnel for the efficient completion of projects

Reporting Requirements

  • Report any violation of OSHA Regulations to supervisor

  • Notify supervisor of any problems or delays in projects

  • Report defective materials, faulty operation of equipment, and unusual matters to Supervisor and appropriate personnel

Accountability

  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of all data and information relating to the facility, medical staff and patients

  • Abide by all relevant facility policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education—High School Diploma

  • Minimum Experience

  • Generalized knowledge in the use of power and hand tools

  • Light carpentry experience desirable

  • Minimum Skills/AbiIities - Communicate and collaborate with facility personnel

  • Certification/Licensure—None

  • Training—This position requires training in the following areas:

  • Fire Safety Blood Borne Pathogens Right-To-Know Chemical Hygiene Infectious Control
