How sweet it is! Yes, the Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard Fudge Maker makes one of the Mills most famous products - sweet, butter-cream fudge. Our Fudge Maker takes pride in creating multiple flavors from a collection of recipes using techniques that create a quality product which customers love. The Fudge Maker also helps with cutting and wrapping cheese and works occasionally in the bakery. <p> The Fly Creek Cider Mill manufactures Fudge on-premises following recipes and a standardized production method. A fudge-maker will follow written directions and recipes to make multiple flavors. Conforming to standards and recipes is vital to the success of the fudge program. Successful candidates will be able to prepare fudge with a consistent flavor profile, appearance and texture. The production area also includes the cutting and wrapping of cheese varieties in uniform sizes and tidy packaging. The bakery is considered a bake-off facility where product is pre-prepared and requires only baking. Adherence to written directions is crucial to achieve a flavorful and consistent product.<p> Duties include and are not limited to: <li>Following recipes and production schedules <li>Maintaining supply inventories, <li>Cleaning equipment and production areas. <li>Packaging bulk and prepared foods. <li>Following sanitary practices and procedures <li>Sweeping and mop floors and removing trash. <p> Endurance- This job means bending, walking, pushing and lifting all day. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling all with repetitive hand motions. Occasional lifting 65 pounds.<p> Friendly demeanor- A good attitude is crucial to this position. A willingness to take the initiative to get the job done is required. A successful candidate will demonstrate pride in cleaning and maintaining a popular central New York attraction. If you aren't a people person do not apply.<p> When does the Janitor work? 5-6 shifts a week in-season, Time varies, and weekends are required in the fall. Off Season: varied and as needed. Starting rate of pay is $15.00 per hour with many opportunities for overtime. This is a starting rate of pay and will increase when job summary, requirements and quality are shown to be within the parameters of this description.<p> Housing Option: Housing is complimentary and adjacent to the Fly Creek Cider Mill and within walking distance. Housing includes shared bedroom, common living area, kitchen facilities and bathrooms. Bedding and towels are provided. Public transportation access to Cooperstown and Oneonta is less than a quarter-mile walk from the Fly Creek Cider Mill.
