ASCI has an upcoming opportunity for a full-time experienced Material Coordinator - Joint Inspector for our government customer. 2nd Shift: Monday thru Friday 3:30 pm - 12:00 pm. The Material Coordinator - Joint Inspector will coordinate administrative and operational functions pertaining to the movement of government owned cargo by all modes of transportation within CONUS and OCONUS preparing all necessary documentation for movements. Secondary responsibility of completing Joint Inspections for deploying units.

Joint Inspector (JI) Certification Required (Training provided during 1st Shift Only)

  • To perform as the Material Coordinator supporting the A/DACG, the JI Certification must be achieved within six months of being hired. The JI Certification is recertified every two years. Once JI Certified, the hourly rate will increase by $2.00; it is mandatory to maintain Certification throughout employment as a Material Coordinator supporting the A/DACG. Recertification is every two years and is mandatory for this position. *

Salary: $29.07/ hour

Summary of Duties:

Evaluate customer requests, mission sheets and movement schedules to determine types, quantities and availability of equipment and operator skills required to accomplish movement missions conferring with supervisor, airfield operations and unit personnel.

Coordinate distribution of equipment and personnel with specific skills to mission areas of operations.

Provide technical guidance and assistance during the loading, unloading, blocking, bracing and tie-down of vehicles, cargo, and equipment on transportation conveyances.

Ensure loading and unloading of equipment and passengers onto transportation conveyances is accomplished to meet timelines, as required.

Assist in cargo inspection, weighting, measuring, marking, and placement into chalks for airlift, rail, barge, and other surface movements.

Inspect all cargo for safety of flight and any undeclared/unidentified HAZMAT.

Assist in scale operations, push/pull teams, cargo securing, and baggage load unloading.

Assist in inspecting secondary cargo and verifying that it is secured properly.

Verify proper side and top net assembly around cargo.

Assist in inspecting pallets and containers to verify they are suitable for aircraft, rail, barge, and surface transport usability.

Verify that military shipping labels and RF tags are placed properly on cargo.

Document equipment loaded on rail cars, barge decks, aircraft, and trucks.

Identify oversized, hazardous material, and sensitive items by type and quantity.

For hazardous and sensitive loads, verify necessary documentation, marking, labeling, and packaging is accomplished prior to shipment.

Operate radio communication systems during all operations.

Conduct safety briefings for each mission.

Must maintain HAZMAT and Air Load certifications for duration of appointment.

Attend training and meetings as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills

The Joint Inspector must have, as a minimum, completed HAZMAT "Inspector" training. (AMMO 62).

The Joint Inspector must have certification for Aircraft Load Planning.

Joint Inspector must be knowledgeable of cargo, vehicle, and equipment preparation requirements Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures and guidelines as they pertain to cargo movement planning, material transportation and distribution activities.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Excellent customer service and teamwork skills required.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Ability to perform work of the craft in a rapid and efficient manner under extreme conditions.

Ability to perform work safely under hazardous conditions.

Knowledge of transportation regulations and guidelines.

Knowledge of transportation STAMIS systems.

Ability to work without direct supervision.

Experience & Education Requirements:

Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in a related field.

Must be Joint Inspector (JI) Certified within 120 days of employment.

Must complete and pass a National Agency Background Check.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Must have a valid CDL.

Must get a CAC within the first 30 days of employment.

Must be able to receive a Secret security clearance, if required.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

Work is performed on concrete, graveled surfaces, uneven, irregular flooring configurations (i.e., pallet rollers, steel decking).

Exposed to high noise levels above 85db requiring the use of hearing protection.

Frequent exposure to all extreme weather elements.

Physically demanding elements include standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, keeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, and carrying.

Safety shoes and\\or gear will be worn in designated areas.

Shift work is required.

May require lifting items weighting 10 - 50 lbs.
