Supervisor: Media Specialist / Principal Contract Length: 190 day contractJob Classification: Paraeducator $14.22/hr (+$0.40 extra for 60+ college credit and $0.30 for Para Certification/Sub Authorization) Supervises: This individual is responsible for supervising the behavior and safety of students. Acts as a resource for individuals throughout the school by assisting with locating materials in the Media Center and by providing an organized center to promote student education and reading enjoyment. Job Summary: Responsible for assisting the on-site Media Specialist with checking books in and out; shelving books; assisting students and staff with locating appropriate materials; performing clerical duties; and maintaining technology equipment, computer system and automated card catalog. Position ResponsibilitiesThe following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   • Check books in and out of the Media Center.

  • Shelve books.

  • Supervise students.

  • Assist students and staff with locating appropriate materials in the Media Center.

  • Perform clerical duties such as maintaining student records and catalog system.

  • Record periodicals and prepare them for student circulation and teacher routing.

  • Prepare overdue lists and notices.

  • Read stories to students visiting the Media Center.

  • Perform minor maintenance of technology equipment.

  • Assist with inventorying all technology and print and non-print materials.

  • Facilitate learning around makerspace.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Mental FunctionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and use interpersonal skills which include demonstrating effective oral and written communication skills and must follow verbal and written instructions. The employee is frequently required to copy, coordinate, compare and evaluate. This individual must possess basic English and mathematics skills.
