South Middlesex Opportunity Council Visitation Monitor in Framingham, Massachusetts

SUMMARY

Supervise visits between non-custodial parents and their children at the Supervised Visitation Center – KidSpace.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure a safe environment where children can visit with the non-custodial/visiting parent without fear of emotional, psychological or physical harm.

  • Ensure a safe environment where the custodial parent can drop off and pick up her/his child(ren).

  • Ensure all program participants follow the KidSpace Ground Rules, policies and guidelines; intervene and/or redirect as needed during the visit to avoid or minimize violations.

  • Greet the non-custodial parent, custodial parent and child(ren) at the beginning of each visit; escort the child(ren) to and from the visit.

  • Take objective, non-judgmental observation notes based on actual observations and conversation to documents what has taken place before, during and after each visit.

  • Provide feedback to custodial and non-custodial parties as needed and relate relevant information to Program Supervisor.

  • Work with Coordinator of KidSpace to assist in ongoing operations including setting up classrooms and restoring classrooms to original conditions.

  • Attend meetings for supervision and ongoing training.

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to agency mission, philosophies and policies.

  • Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.

  • Attend & participate in engagement team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas.

  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualification: Associates degree or equivalent.

  • Experience working with children.

  • Knowledge of normal child development. Knowledge of and/or work history within the domestic violence and sexual assault fields.

  • Bi-lingual ability (Spanish, Portuguese) will be considered preferentially.

  • Must be CPR certified before 1st visit.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

  • Directly reports to Supervised Visitation Program Manager.

  • Indirect reports of this position are Visitation Monitors.

  • Direct reports NONE.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to see and hear in order to monitor the safety of the children.

  • Must be able to take notes legibly.

WORKING CONDITIONS

In a handicap accessible preschool facility. In a handicap accessible preschool facility. As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Visitation Monitor will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.
