Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST-TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD1254000 and is part of the KY SMO, National Guard. Responsibilities As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST-TITLE 32, GS-1601-9, you will analyze and resolve maintenance management problems to improve existing maintenance operations, production, and practices. Analyze the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance management, repair, and training. Develop goals and plans to ensure maintenance production standards are met. Coordinate with shop leadership to resolve conflicts. Assess impact on the maintenance shop due to new equipment fielding, mission changes, new directives, manpower utilization and authorizations, etc. Establish methods and procedures to ensure maintenance tasks performed meet or exceed established policies and regulations. Disseminate technical guidance and directions form the Department of the Army (DA), National Guard Bureau (NGB), the J-4/G-4, and the Surface Maintenance Management Office. Contacts depots or manufacturers to clarify procedures or gain insight regarding better methods of repair or maintenance. Oversee and provide technical guidance regarding Class IX (Class 9) repair parts management. Establish and monitor the shop safety and health program. Provide instruction, investigate accidents, and assure facilities meet established requirements. Oversee the hazardous waste/industrial hygiene program for maintenance shops. Perform other duties as assigned. POC is Debra Neal, 502-607-1360. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY GRADES: 2LT/O1-MAJ/O4 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard. You must be assigned to a compatible military position. Wear of the military uniform. Position may require a pre-employment physical. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position is located on a tobacco free facility. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. This position is intended to prepare individuals to serve as a Surface Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor within the Kentucky Army National Guard. Locations of training may be modified to accommodate geographical needs of organization at discretion of Surface Maintenance Manager. Selected incumbent will serve a 36-month internship as part of an Individual Training Plan. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Experience which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings and specifications, using test instruments, making computations, and keeping records. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facility, or service operations sufficient in designing projects or planning assignments. Experience using well-established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhaul, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, printing design layout, etc. DESIRED EXPERIENCE (NOT REQUIRED): At least 36 months experience diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment.
