External Candidate -$1,500.00 sign-on bonus!

3rd Shift 9pm-5:30am Off Saturday and 1 Weekday TBD

GENERAL PURPOSE

Conduct analyses in accordance with approved methods and procedures to ensure analytical data meets the highest

standards for accuracy and precision. Train and mentor other technicians to help them develop their skills and expertise.

May provide back-up coverage to one or more laboratories.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain any required certifications and perform analysis in areas assigned

• Analyze samples accurately and in a timely manner with minimal supervision

• Maintain analytical equipment according to manufacturers’ recommendations and laboratory standard operating

procedures; maintain instruments to keep laboratory within certification

• Interpret results and make machine adjustments based on calibration data

• Perform all sample sorting and scanning functions, routing all samples to the appropriate location

• Complete appropriate documentation (paper, spreadsheets, databases, systems)

• In coordination with administrative staff or lab supervisor, maintain an adequate inventory of consumable supplies

necessary to perform analysis assigned

• Ensure that all staff members are aware of potentially hazardous material in the laboratory and advise proper

protection procedures in the event of an accident. Ensure work areas remain in safe, clean, and sanitary condition

• Keep current in advances in analytical methods and potential demand for analytical services

• Monitor turn-around times and perform technical and administrative quality control checks on outgoing data to

ensure accuracy

• Communicate pertinent information regarding the daily workings of the laboratory

• Make recommendations to lab supervisor for continuous improvement

• Provide necessary data for routine and special-request reports to customers and regulatory agencies as required

• Act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience

• Provide solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or occur in frequently based on existing precedents or

procedures

• Explain complex technical information including interdependencies within the team and others

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Undergraduate degree in biology, microbiology or related curriculum preferred

• 2 to 4 years of lab or related experience

• Certification and/or License – Current, valid, regulatory certifications to perform all required analyses in the

assigned labs. Maintaining certification is mandatory for continued employment in this position
