Position Summary: This position is within the Fisher BioServices business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific. This position is within the NCI CR government contract and assists in the daily shipment of all clinical drug requests for the operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs inventory and database maintenance for received samples, including reconciliation of data.

  • Assists with preparation of reports requested by clients.

  • Tracks and requests the purchase of needed supplies.

  • Contributes to Quality Control (QC) of samples and applicable documentation to ensure accuracy and integrity of the inventory and/or shipments.

  • Provides technical assistance and mentorship to repository technicians as necessary.

  • Works closely with managers to support customer inquiries, discrepancies, inventory maintenance and database updates.

  • Responsible for using an inventory management system for data entry, sample tracking, and management of samples.

  • Ensures that all shipments from facility follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), facility safety guidelines, and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) requirements which may include compliance with cGMP CFR parts 210 and 211, and other federal guidelines where applicable.

  • Assists with planning, implementation, evaluating and leading activities associated with complex customer requests and will assist the contract in process development and improvement.

  • Involved in identifying inventory system enhancements and testing newly executed features.

  • Assists with collection, evaluation, and reporting data in order to ensure quality of inventory records, trend metrics, and increase the quality of the work being performed on contract.

  • Ensure that inventory quality errors are caught quickly through database reviews.

  • Assists with the planning, implementation, and/or leading of special projects as assigned.

  • Collect and report on contract-specific metrics as assigned.

  • Assist the team in performing complex shipments.

  • Review documentation accompanying agent shipments.

  • Oversee the repository staff maintains adequate supplies for the shipment of agents.

  • Ensure agent inspection receipts are prepared correctly and in a timely manner.

  • Process orders for shipment including pulling, checking, preparation, and packaging shipments.

  • Process destructions and returns.

  • Fill in for each level of repository technician as needed.

  • Be a backup for the Administrative Assistant in purchasing inquiries, preparing Monthly Progress Report, and all the client's inquiries.

  • Ensures recurring repository tasks are completed in a timely fashion and are GDP compliant.

  • Provides ideas to and assists Operations Manager in implementation of special repository improvement tasks. Provides information, solutions, and suggestions for new or changing requirements.

  • Exercise discretion to resolve routine issues following applicable company, contract and regulatory guidelines.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Assist with any facility issues, including facility management and maintenance.

  • Requires knowledge of dangerous goods packaging/documentation.

  • Requires ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form.

  • Requires knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Word.

  • Requires expert ability to work with methods to handle, process, and store specimens using a digital inventory management system.

  • Requires familiarity with Universal Precautions and quality assurance/control.

  • Requires demonstration of good professional judgment when working with clients.

  • Requires ability to role model behavior consistent with company values. Must have high level of integrity and reliability, as database and inventory management are key aspects of the position.

  • Requires demonstration of strong logic and problem‐solving skills.

  • Requires knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

  • Requires excellent attention to detail.

  • Requires excellent organizational skills (must have ability to multi-task).

  • Must be self‐driven; able to function and complete tasks without continual oversight and direction.

  • Participate in the facility on-call program.

Education/ Experience:

  • Requires a High School Diploma Degree or equivalent.

  • Requires 4+ years of experience in pharmaceutical warehouse setting/distribution.

  • Expertise with forklift.

Certificates and/ or Licenses:

  • IATA/DOT Certification required

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • None.

Work Schedule:

  • 8:00AM to 5:00PM core hours, additional hours as required.

Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Environment: office, warehouse and repository.

  • Must use personal protective equipment and adhere to safety protocols.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs, and push up to 70 lbs.

  • Must be able to process and handle materials frozen on dry ice (-78°C) for up to 6 hours per day.

  • Must be able to work in walk-in freezers or refrigerators periodically for up to 5 hour per day.

  • Ability to use a computer for up to 8 hours per day.

  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day.
