About You and this Role
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a EH&S Technician in Freeport, Texas within the Oyster Creek Energy department.
Shares responsibility for the implementation of the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) management system, in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. Provides hands-on environmental, industrial hygiene (IH), and health and safety (H&S) activities for the Oyster Creek Energy department. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.
Responsibilities
Implements detailed, task level, day to day EH&S programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.
Ensures that the Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety aspects of operating discipline are adequate and applied to achieve EH&S performance goals. In most cases, would perform the role of section owner for the EH&S sections of operating discipline.
Acts as the Plant resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.
Serves as plant contact for Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety issues.
Coaches' teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities.
Assists in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.
Ensures compliance tasks are completed.
Performs/coordinates certain Environmental, and IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant.
Participates in or leads Root Cause Investigations for EHS events.
Develops and delivers training as needed to drive site or facility EHS knowledge.
Requirements
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
2 or more years of experience in manufacturing and/or environmental, health, or safety fields.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Must have current valid US Driver’s License.
Must be willing to work weekends, and holidays, if required.
Must be willing to work overtime (extra hours beyond your regular scheduled) if required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
- An associate degree, or higher, in relevant field OR 3+ years military experience preferred.

- No relocation assistance is available for this position.
Physical Requirements
Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
Wear and use respirators.
Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
