We are looking for a Wastewater and Water Treatment Staff Engineer to join our GEC team in Freeport, TX.

The position requires the development of comprehensive analyses throughout the entire water distribution system, considering the potential impacts of failures in downstream systems. The primary objective is to establish and maintain a robust water treatment concept that effectively reduces risks and prevents unnecessary plant failures, thereby enhancing overall plant reliability. This position is a great opportunity to actively contribute to project teams and apply specialized knowledge and skills in the field of industrial water quality and treatment. This may encompass various aspects such as water distribution, water treatment, wastewater treatment (WWT), and wastewater collection as well as provide guidance on chemical cleaning procedures for equipment, which is a key responsibility, aimed at minimizing fouling while ensuring the integrity of downstream equipment. The incumbent will also play a crucial role in ensuring the adoption of quality processes throughout the organization.

As a Water and Wastewater Treatment Staff Engineer, you create chemistry by...

  • Building knowledge and provide critical support for the wastewater infrastructure and water supply systems throughout BASF North America, engaging with site and regional authorities regarding WWT and Water Treatment challenges.

  • Developing tailored and sustainable wastewater disposal concepts for new and existing sites / plants.

  • Assisting with technical and economical optimization of existing plants (OpEx) while evaluating innovative water technologies (consider PFAS)

  • Provisioning a platform for experience exchange in operation of WWT plants as well as aligning digital platforms for key metrics and data focus and Participating as the technical lead for treatability studies, pilot studies, water/ wastewater sampling and analysis, and water treatment alternatives evaluation.

  • Leading and/or actively contributing with site water teams to help steer the site concepts to ensure quality processes are adopted.

  • Documenting, developing, and providing training for the North American community regarding water treatment and WWT concepts through development of best practices, handbooks, and quality/audit controls. You will also establish and coordinate a North American Technical Network (NATN) or Community of Practice for Utilities concepts while working closely with procurement water treatment representatives to ensure a partnership for development and review of vendor service level agreements (SLAs).

If you...

  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering or other related engineering or science discipline such as Chemistry.

  • Possess at least 10 years of experience in industrial process water and wastewater treatment roles.

  • Have expertise in both Wastewater Treatment and Water Supply.

  • Have experience in on-site troubleshooting and assessment of Wastewater Treatment (WWT) and Water Treatment systems.

  • Possess knowledge of bio systems (bioreactors).
