To provide effective leadership in managing site-wide calibrations activities. Responsible for supporting the management of comprehensive calibration and instrumentation program. Provides expertise in facilitating the acquisition of instruments and /or components that are required to compliantly operate our business. To oversee the successful achievement of all pertinent departmental goals, ensuring that all internal safety and instrumentation related GMP compliance requirements and external regulatory requirements are followed. To develop a framework for partnering with all cross functionally. To foster an environment of continuous improvement while giving consideration to developing personnel skills. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead all assigned instrumentation personnel and contractors in assuring all requirements of their assignments and responsibility are clearly communicated and understood. Foster an attitude of teamwork, compliance, quality, safety and productivity. Schedule, assign, and review work assignments in Asset Management system. Take prompt action to re-mediate employee performance issues while recognizing and rewarding positive results and performance. performs ongoing evaluation of staff performance, including yearly performance reviews.

  • Ensures that training and other personal development programs are in place for the development of subordinates. Ensures that performance opportunities are pro-actively managed through the Performance Management system.

  • Provide leadership and hands-on action for emergency response to process in regards to instrument issues. Notify production process personnel as directed to assure timely communication and response.

  • Reinforces a level of safety awareness by performing in a preventative manner to promote an accident-free and fully compliant environment. Encourages safety awareness and training, and implements good safety practices among all assigned personnel in the Instrumentation group.

  • Identify training needs and provide training opportunities. Provide hands-on on-the-job training to technicians. Supports the development of training material and provides training to technicians and/or contractors in calibration concepts and procedures.

  • Work with Reliability Engineering and Process Engineering to improve reliability and performance of production process equipment and utility equipment.

  • Timely review of completed work orders verifying timely and detailed documentation. Verify work is following departmental work flows. Reviews and provides final approval (closing)on technicians work orders.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred.

  • Five (5) years of progressive instrumentation and calibrations related experience and four to six (4-6) years of leading instrumentation personnel required.

  • A background in a GMP bio or pharma production process environment is highly desirable.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Physical Demands / Surroundings – Works primarily in an office setting under desirable conditions with few or no disagreeable features. Duties do not require incumbent to exert physical effort beyond normal office conditions. The individual may be required to enter and perform work in the manufacturing areas. This may include periods of frequent standing or working. Some domestic and international travel required.

  • Visual Demands - Must be able to read and see clearly. Vision clarity with or without correction to read handwritten as well as computer generated documents.

  • Attendance / Schedule - Attendance requirements are based on general attendance policies and the needs of the business as set forth by direct manager.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Compensation Data: This position offers a base salary typically between $72,000 and $152,000 annually.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.
