About the Role:

The Team:

C&RS (Credit & Risk Solutions) is part of S&P Global Market Intelligence. We provide industry-leading risk analytics solutions to sell and buy-side institutions within the financial markets. C&RS is currently investing in their technology platform to develop new revenue-generating products, leveraging open source projects and big data technologies. These include new visualization, risk aggregation and smart data initiatives that address new data, risk, and regulatory requirements and are highly visible and strategic within the organization. These initiatives are using technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, HDFS, HBase, Apache Kafka, Docker, AWS , along with in-house-developed technologies, on Windows and Linux operating systems. This role will specifically be using the following languages and technologies: Scala, Redis, AWS, Python, Docker, Git, Apache NiFi.

You will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment, building commercial products which are at the heart of the business. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and customer support. You will work closely with Agile development teams (your own and others), financial engineers, and product development groups.

Responsibilities and Impact:

• Participation in regular backlog grooming, sprint planning, design and code review meetings, pair programming, sprint reviews and retrospectives, and other team activities

• Taking ownership of development tasks, including design, development, code reviews, testing and test automation, and documentation of enhancements for applications and services.

• Producing high-quality work, always following quality standards such as unit testing, integration tests and documented code.

• Being delivery-focused, have a passion for technology, and enjoy offering new ideas and approaches.

• Working with distributed teams in multiple locations worldwide.

• Pitching in wherever needed to deliver a high quality release to clients on time.

• Specific responsibilities may be adjusted based on your relative strengths and interests.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

• Strong experience with Scala/Java

• Highly collaborative – an affinity for solving complex problems through dialogue with team members

• Curiosity – always seeking the “why’s” and “how’s” in the interest of continuous learning and the mastery of a craft

• Comfortable with ambiguity – can begin to explore and solve complex problems even when the problem and solution are not well-defined

• Passion for software – enthusiasm for coding and new technologies and their potential to make an impact

• Innovation – the courage to challenge prevailing assumptions and suggest better ways of doing things

• Leadership – a tendency to inspire others and rally them towards the achievement of shared goals

• This position requires being present in the office twice a week
