Position Summary: The Supervisor of EKG/Vascular Laboratory must have knowledge in basic management principles and interpersonal communications. Directs and coordinates activities of the EKG/Vascular Laboratory departments across the enterprise. Ensures that the Mission and Vision Statement and expectations of TH are met. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Must possess skills in identifying problems and recommending solutions, preparing and maintaining records and written reports, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, hospital, medical staff and the public. Must have the ability to analyze solutions and apply critical thinking. Must demonstrate strong leadership skills and assist with team development in areas of continuous quality improvement and team performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

  • Associates degree, required.

  • Bachelors degree, preferred.

Experience :

  • Minimum 2-3 years progressive supervisory experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.

  • Prior experience with specific hospital based inpatient & outpatient service care and delivery, required.

  • Prior experience with CMS/Joint Commission regulatory standards with acute knowledge of standards and guidelines, preferred.

  • Prior experience with EPIC, preferred.

License/Certification :

  • Currently certified and in good standing as a Certified RDCS, RCS, RVT or RVS, required.

  • ACLS, required.

  • American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational Development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.

  • PALS/NRP, preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :

  • Knowledge of scanning techniques, required.

  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy, required.

  • Must be able to communicate well with all levels of staff and customers, external and internal.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs.

  • Strong organization and multitasking skills required.

  • Pleasant, understanding and patient attitude and the ability to remain composed under stressful circumstances

  • Demonstrated ability to complete work in a timely and efficient manner and ensures work is accurate.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and empower staff to effectively perform their responsibilities

  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to deliver on personal and organizational commitments.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively respond to changing circumstances and priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and implement multiple responsibilities, projects and priorities.

  • Knowledge and experience with high quality customer service initiatives.

  • Proven Excellence in organizational skills required.

  • Ability to analyze data and build reports with valid metrics

  • Ability to primarily work in an enclosed office area required.

  • Manual dexterity required for handling reports, charts, instruments, and equipment.

  • Verbal and written communication and the ability to effectively is essential to the position in order to communicate with staff, patients and their families.

  • Near visual acuity required to work with charts and records and observe patients and staff.

  • Ability and willingness to take “call” and respond within 30 minutes of call to facility, if needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
