Using the Quality Caring Model, the Operating Room Nurse (OR RN/Clinical Nurse) demonstrates expertise in performance and application of the nursing process to plan and manage the care of patients in the operating room setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• This role reports to the Director of Surgery.

• An innovator in minimally invasive surgery, Holy Cross Hospital was first in Montgomery County to offer robotic surgery with the da Vinci® surgical system.

Description :

Responsibilities :

  • The OR Nurse plans and delivers patient care

  • Perform scrub functions including selection and handling of instruments and supplies during procedures

  • Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communication of patient condition

  • Educate patients and family

  • Plan continuum of care

What you will need

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN within a specific time frame)

  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.

  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)

  • At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting

Preferred:

  • BSN or MSN preferred
