Job Description

As the Body & Chassis Buyer you will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders. Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and independent judgment. Represents purchasing activities on program team and vice-versa. Partner with Program Managers to represent purchasing and communicate program requirements/vehicle line overview.

Other responsibilities include:

• Ability to work effectively cross functionally, both internally and externally and build relationships

• Experience with commodities (metals, stampings, castings, plastics, resins, paint, electronics, etc.)

• Experience handling commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance

Skills and Knowledge:

• Proven competence in negotiating skills

• Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills- Automotive industry experience

• Knowledge of procurement software

• Knowledge of materials management

• Capable of interpreting market data

• Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents

• Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
