Business Development Manager - Hotel Specialist

Do you enjoy exploring and finding fantastic places to take short breaks away in Scotland, and do you have your finger on the pulse of great new places to visit and stay?

We’re looking for an ambitious and driven Business Development Manager to join our City Team - sourcing the very best hotel stays and getaways across Scotland and the North East of England. 

The person we’re looking for will have a background in either working directly in the hotel sector, or come from a role where negotiating deals and rates with hotels is part of their daily role. We’re looking an in depth understanding of industry terminology, calculating room rates and occupancy levels, combined with a genuine passion for finding new openings, hidden gems and knowing the best places to stay ahead of the crowd.

What you'll be doing 

Our City (Sales) Team is at the forefront of delivering growth for itison, responsible for driving double-digit growth every year through sourcing and negotiating incredible experiences in our local areas. 

As Business Development Manager, you'll be tracking down the very best hotel offerings and getaways across Scotland, and converting these businesses to work with itison.

The role will be split between time spent in our Glasgow HQ and being out and about in different areas, so would suit someone who is flexible, can drive (and has their own car), and is happy to stay away for much of the week.

 

What’s the role? 

  • Hunting out amazing new hotels and getaway experiences our members will love, every day 

  • Spotting and converting new business opportunities, pitching to and negotiating with business owners/seniors face-to-face and over the phone 

  • Growing and developing your pipeline by building amazing relationships with key people, whilst coming up with smart strategies to grow your existing accounts.  

     

Skills & Experience

  • Intelligent, professional, driven, and up for a challenge 

  • A people person who’s a confident and engaging communicator and brilliant at building relationships

  • An exceptional developer of new business, with a proven track record and a hunger to be the best 

  • A skilled and tenacious negotiator who doesn’t give up easily and thrives under pressure 

  • A genuine passion for and excellent knowledge of the hotel industry, with good contacts to be able to hit the ground running

  • Super-organised, adaptable, and used to managing your own time, workload, and journey planning. 

  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and a team player – you’ll be personally accountable for your own targets, so you need to be independent, but also bring energy and positivity to the team
