Raytheon Technologies Sr. Process Engineer in Goleta, California
Raytheon Vision Systems, Focal Plane Operations is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer with a strong background in supporting Semiconductor Fabrication. This position is for Second Shift in a sustaining and support role. This position will focus on processes required in the manufacture and characterization of Infrared Focal Plane Arrays. The selected candidate will work with a team of Technicians, Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and Equipment Engineers in wafer fabrication and sensor chip assembly.
The position will also include managing process development and improvement projects, including novel processing techniques, yield increase, throughput, and safety improvements. The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing material in WIP, certifying operators, dispositioning out of flow material, and hands on processing of novel detector designs. The candidate should have familiarity with some or all of these processes: Wet Etch, Dry Etch, Photolithography, Sputter Deposition, Thermal Evaporation, PECVD, Flip Chip Bonding, Diamond Point Turning and Precision Alignment.
Specific knowledge of the processes and materials used in Infrared Detector technology is desirable, including experience with compound semiconductors, small pitch interconnects, aerospace epoxies and Infrared Optical Coatings. The candidate should be able to work independently, with the ability to effectively understand and administer disposition authority for out of flow material or material requiring Engineering Review.
4+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s Degree
Experience in cleanroom or laboratory chemical processes
Experience with metrology equipment used in laboratory or cleanroom environments
Experience using MES systems in a Semiconductor manufacturing environment
Familiarity with cleanroom work environment and principles (ISO Class 5)
Experience in understanding chemical safety data and ability to follow and advise on safety protocols including the use of Personal Protective Equipment
Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders
Computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as the ability to learn and use engineering and manufacturing software)
Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing full coverall garments
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE/ANOVA)
Ability to work 2nd shift
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems .
Experience with II-VI and III-V or other compound semiconductor processing
Experience with wet etch, metal-lift off, lithography, plasma cleaning and associated semiconductor process equipment
Experience with Vacuum System technologies, including dry etch and deposition
Equipment and controls systems experience
Familiarity and experience with device design and modeling tools
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings or schematics
Visual Basic, G code, C+, or other computer programming experience
Good mechanical aptitude and/or chemical handling ability
Understanding of basic semiconductor physics
Experience with Infrared Detector Technology
Industrial/Government experience or internships
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience required, or 2+ years with a Master’s Degree or a PhD
