Job Description

As the IT Department Head, you will play a pivotal role in leading our technology team. You'll manage a staff of 22 budgeted positions. Collaborating closely with another department head, you'll drive innovation, revamp our processes, and shape the future of our organization. Your strategic vision and strong leadership will be critical in achieving our goals.

Responsibilities

1. Staff Management and Leadership:

o Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient functioning across various teams.

o Provide performance reviews, coaching, and mentorship to team members.

o Collaborate with the other department head to align efforts and achieve organizational objectives.

2. Strategic Assessment and Restructuring:

o Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the department's structure.

o Identify areas for improvement, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals.

o Streamline processes, reassign job duties, and optimize resources.

3. Revamping the Department:

o Lead the transformation of our IT department.

o Innovate and leverage cutting-edge technology to change the department's culture.

o Set the vision for overarching positions and day-to-day leadership.

4. Web Presence and Technology Expertise:

o Drive our web presence, ensuring it reflects our forward-thinking approach.

o Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.

o Serve as an expert in tech applications and solutions.

5. Mentoring and Inspiring:

o Mentor team members, helping them grow professionally.

o Inspire boldness for change and foster a collaborative environment.

o Chart a path forward for individual and team development.

6. Budget Management:

o Manage the budget for department operations.

o Advocate for new technologies and submit requests for necessary resources.

o Coordinate with finance to ensure effective allocation of funds.

Skills and Requirements

* 5+ years of IT experience with progressive responsibility growth

* 3-4 years minimum of management experience

* Experience in leading and managing large IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructure across various software and technology

* Strong drive for innovation and change.

* Excellent communication skills and ability to inspire others.

* Familiarity with cutting-edge technologies and applications. * Experience working in local government null
