SCL Health New Grad RN Med Surg in Grand Junction, Colorado

Job Description:A former nursing student who has completed an accredited nursing program and is pending nursing licensure. All individuals hired into this position would be expected to obtain nursing licensure within six months of hire and transition into a new graduate nurse resident position, as available, for the next available nurse residency cohort after licensure. If a Graduate Nurse does not obtain nursing licensure within six months of hire, an extension of employment in this position requires the approval of the hospital CNO.

Works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse except as noted in addendum

The New Grad RN position is for recent RN graduates or those with less than one year of RN experience. Those hired as a New Grad RN will work under a licensed RN until license can be verified. In conjunction with working on this unit New Grad RNs attend Intermountain's one-year nurse residency program. The nurse residency program supports New Grad RNs in their transition from classroom to caregiver through 72 paid clinical hours, webinars, simulations, case studies, and in person meetings. Unit Information: The 8th floor Med/Surg specializes in caring for a variety of both medical and surgical patients. We provide inpatient care to patients with multiple diagnoses including sepsis, diabetes, electrolyte imbalances, gastrointestinal, respiratory, cardiac-tele monitored, infectious, kidney, and liver diseases. We also offer surgical care for pre/ post orthopedic surgeries, general surgeries such as bowel resections/ ostomies, pre/post laparoscopic procedure, bladder surgeries, and plastics. Minimum Qualifications: Graduate Nurse Entry Pay: $26.50 Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing/RN education program (education will be verified).

Registered Nurse Entry Pay: $34.64 - $52.52 Current RN License in state of practice.

Licensed and Unlicensed RN Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date.

Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equi ment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
