Stewart Manufacturing, LLC, located in Hermansville, Michigan, is a manufacturer that provides high quality precision machining services to the automotive, diesel engine, heavy equipment and power generating industry and is currently accepting applications for the position of Manufacturing Engineer.

The successful candidate will plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in our manufacturing facility to ensure all machines are producing parts as efficiently as possible.  This position requires the successful candidate to work much of their time on the shop floor.

Summary *    *Plans, directs and coordinates manufacturing processes in manufacturing plant to ensure that all machines are producing parts as efficiently as possible by performing the following duties:                        

* *Essential Duties and Responsibilities*include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Understanding of CAD/CAM Programming and multi-axis machining.
  • Providing shop floor support daily while troubleshooting assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Identify inefficiencies; implement solutions.
  • Work with quality department to develop control plans, process flow diagrams and process FMEA's.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specification and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Understands and applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Ability to quote new business by developing cycle time, machine requirements, tooling requirements, gauging requirements and labor content.
  • Ability to define and generate part specific engineering documentation (work offsets, change-over instructions, tool assembly drawings, etc.).
  • Ability to launch projects by working with multiple departments (customer service, customer engineering, customer SQE's, maintenance, operations, purchasing).
  • Able to collect and analyze production data to plan production improvement.
  • Ability to generate final piece price with cost accounting department.
  • Ability to perform problem solving using root cause analysis tools.
  • Lead process improvement teams and/or APQP project teams as needed. Exhibits effective project management skills.
  • Practical understanding of foundry practices, machining practices and fixture design/build.
