WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will be working with multiple stakeholders in both the JD Marketplace Unit, (MPU) Nike Marketplace (NMP) and Geo Consumer teams in executing the JD strategy. You will be an integral part of the JD MPU and Gender Squad working cross functionally with sales, planning and marketing.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Senior Merchant, leading Kid’s Apparel within the JD Sports Merch team to represent the consumer insights, trends and capacity for this leading account in the Nike Marketplace. This role will be the voice of the consumer, product and storytelling for JD in order for us to win with the end in mind and land the Kid’s strategy. This is a dynamic role, working with real time insights to react to short term opportunities, as well as input into the longer-term line planning for future consumer needs. This role will require an entrepreneurial ‘Just do it’ attitude to bring the mission and vision to life.

The candidate needs to thrive working within a dynamic environment and have experience in working complex cross functional teams. The candidate needs to be confident in working with external partners as well as being a strong team player, who has excellent communication skills and be able to effectively prioritize in line with the short and long term priorities.

  • A professional level of Merchandising, Buying and or Sales experience, demonstrating a relevant level of business, retail and merchandising acumen.

  • A consumerist mindset with strong product knowledge and with a sharp eye for product. You will bring a clear understanding of the total EMEA marketplace, from bricks and mortar to online retail.

  • A proven track record of delivering results and driving clear and distinct strategies both externally and internally. Account facing experience is also of benefit.

  • Excellent storytelling and product expertise, with a proven ability to influence effectively and the ability to communication confidently.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, to help succeed in a multi-faceted, cross functional role.

  • An innovative future thinking mindset, always eager to try, test and new strategies.

  • Positive and flexible mindset, able to adapt within a fast-changing & dynamic environment.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

If this is you, you’ll be working with multiple functions and stakeholders to land JD’s FOP strategies. You will work with your direct gender squad to land your seasonal assortment plans, to serve the JD consumer. You will represent the voice of the JD consumer when you work through seasonal hind sighting, Trend and Insights and in assisting your Consumer Merchandising partners in future Capacity & Line Planning. You will also work with Consumer Merchandising & Geo Express Lane (GEL) teams to deliver product packages that uniquely serve the JD Consumer, with closer to market products that strengthen Nike & JD’s positioning within the Athletic Specialty marketplace. A typical season will focus on informing assortment capacity for Gender / Product Engine that informs our Lead, Play, Adopt model to influence future line planning. You will translate the Geo lead assortments frameworks into a JD consumer right assortments. You’ll be working with sales, planning and marketing and the account to land the go to market strategy. No two days will be the same, with a constant need to read & react to real time consumer and marketplace insights to maximize in season and short-term opportunities.
