Job Description

Job Title: Communication Manager

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

About the role:

A Communication Manager (CM) is dedicated to support the development and implementation of Takeda Vietnam corporate branding and therapeutic area communication strategies and tactics, which aims to enhancing corporate thought leadership and visibility in key technical areas as well as raise public awareness of healthcare issues and innovative solutions provided by Takeda Pharmaceuticals Vietnam in alignment with Takeda global and regional strategies. The CM works closely with External Affairs, Senior Leaders and different business units in identifying opportunities for the company to build or participate in dialogues with general public and target stakeholders to shape perceptions and understanding of the company areas of interests through engaging with media and other communication channels. The CM plays a crucial role in developing and managing consistent messages for the company to communicate both internally and externally in normal or crisis situations.

How you will contribute:

  • Work closely with External Affairs and other key functions to develop and implement the organization’s overall communication strategies and campaigns aligned with global/regional guideline.

  • Play an active role in planning and coordination with senior leaders and functions in identifying the public voices of the corporate and different brands.

  • Devises comprehensive and effective crisis communications strategies and plans to effectively manage and mitigate business and reputational risk. This includes being a part of the Country Crisis Management Committee, coordinating with country and above the country stakeholders, drafting crisis messaging and serving as a coordinator for the organization if assigned.

  • Manage and guide selected PR agencies in executing the approved plans, monitoring and evaluating the efforts to ensure high-quality campaigns and timely delivery.

  • Provide project management (both programmatically and financially) to all the company communication campaigns, from planning to end-result reporting and evaluation.

  • Manage, generate, and regularly update content for the company‘s internal and external communication channels (website and Linkedln pages, Yammer).

  • Build and maintain regular internal dialogues and information sharing within LOC, and between LOC and other countries and regions.

  • This role is also responsible for developing and managing content for all internal and external channels related to Takeda with the aim to ensure consistent brand tone and messaging.

  • Responsible to manage the corporate events such as town hall meetings, company meetings and ad-hoc corporate events.

  • Assist in promoting the corporate image and values using different communication channels and tactics.

  • Manage and ensure compliance with all the company SOPs and business ethics.

  • Provide assistance with other tasks as assigned by his or her line manager.

What you bring to Takeda:

Essential

  • A university degree holder in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Media Studies, Marketing, or related field

  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in PR and Corporate Communications in healthcare industry

Desired

  • 4-5 years of experience in vaccines related PR campaigns is a plus.

  • Experience in a PR agency is an added advantage.

  • Knowledgeable of the latest communication trends as well as market intelligence and best practices

  • English proficiency is a must.

Complexity and Problem Solving

  • Describe the decisions made by the incumbents on a regular basis. Include decisions within the Incumbent’s authority to make as well as those decisions that must be referred to a higher level.

  • The CM role needs to have a strong ability to understand the media politics and how sensitive to work with different media channels. Thus, maintaining the confidentiality, direct counselling and timely reporting to senior leaders are highly required.

The Communication Manager role will:

  • Directly reports to Head of External Affairs in charge of external engagement with all relevant stakeholders in the company’s ecosystem.

  • Dotted line to Country Manager.

  • In liaison, alignment, and partnership with ISEA Communication Lead for global and regional communication guidelines.

  • Work closely with Business Units Marketing Teams and Functional Heads for communication strategic and tactical planning.

  • Work closely with the country Crisis Management Committee members in any crisis assessment and management.
