Starting Rate: $16.58 per hour

License: Work Permit

JOB SUMMARY: The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for participating in the supervision of departmental personnel, for performing a wide variety of housekeeping functions, and for filling in when the Housekeeping Manager is absent. Assign work duties to staff, inspect work, and investigate complaints regarding service and equipment. Possess keen observation skills, detail oriented and competent in verbal and written communication and time management. Responsible for ordering and maintain equipment. Must be professional customer service and open minded at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Exhibits a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with the public and fellow associates.

  • Able to lead, train and motivate new staff.

  • Coach and support Leads, Inspectors and associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with established hotel standards.

  • Communicates department issues and concerns to Housekeeping Manager.

  • Screen job applicants, participate in interview process to hire new employees

  • Effectively monitor supplies through ordering, receiving and inventory management. While maintaining a knowledge and understanding of the budgeting process.

  • Effectively oversee payroll input and corrections while following attendance policies.

  • Be aware of and communicate guest service scores to drive improvement and higher guest satisfaction.

  • Oversee guest issues and complaints while ensuring overall guest satisfaction.

  • Monitor all projects and follow through with regards to the hotel and other departments.

  • On occasion, clean rooms or assist staff with cleaning rooms.

  • Inspect and evaluate departments work performance through reviews, inspections of both Leads and associates.

  • Follow the disciplinary action procedures outlined in the employee handbook.

  • Prepare reports concerning room occupancy, payroll and department expenses.

  • Possess strong work ethic and positive attitude toward job, detail oriented, reliable and able to work well independently.

  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

  • Must be able to flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent required.

  • Previous supervisory responsibility required.

  • Must have computer knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Advanced Computer knowledge.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Directly supervisor 20-30 associates in the Hotel Housekeeping department. Responsibilities include interviewing, training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The associate frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must obtain and maintain a St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming work permit which requires a criminal background check to be used solely for employment purposes. Successful candidates for employment must submit to and pass a drug test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed. In case of a positive result, the candidate is not eligible for employment with the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino or Mohawk Bingo Palace. Employment will not begin until process is complete.
