upports the work of the Po'ai Ke Aloha 'Aina (PA'A) lab to advance ancestral circular economies in Hawai'i and globally. Major projects include conducting an analysis of the material stocks and flows within the geographic region of the Hawaiian Islands. Collects
, prepares
, and analyzes
data, maintains
research databases, and develops
research findings for publication and public presentations. Works
with established community partners and international colleagues to support the projects and goals of the Po'ai Ke Aloha 'Aina lab as directed by the supervising faculty. PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
PhD from an accredited college or university in industrial ecology, ecological economics, geography, natural resource management, or
related field.
EXPERIENCE
One to three (1-3) years of experience in
research design, project management, life cycle assessments, material stocks and flow analysis, ecosystem services, and other analytics of ecological economics.
KNOWLEDGE
Strong knowledge of
life cycle assessments.
Strong knowledge of
material stock
and
flow analysis.
Strong knowledge of
ecological
economic principles.
Basic knowledge of Hawaiian and indigenous culture.
ABILITIES and SKILLS
Expert ability to synthesize data and communicate scientific and economic principles effectively across diverse groups and different cultures. Proficiency in maintaining databases and implementing research protocols.
Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to complete the UH Title IX training within twelve (12) months from date of hire. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS
Ability to
stand or
walk for prolonged periods on uneven surfaces to attend
occasional meetings and site visits with community partners on the island of O'ahu.
